Try swapping them around so they spin the opposite way.
Hub side to gearbox, gearbox side to hub.

As for what I did to mine today, I went for a nice 100 mile cruise.

X3 on the I like it!! Looks great.
I have both bumpers off in preparation of something similar.
Could you give the quick rundown on how you shortened up the endcaps?

Over the last few days on mine:

Pulled the cam cover, yanked the tensioner and pads, (16V) ordered parts. Should have done this long ago...was living on borrowed time.

Stripped the cam cover since I had it out and powdercoated it in red wrinkle.
Probably order up the black Jager/Garage9 letters to finish it off.

Oh yeah.... bought a manual rack from BoostFeen

No, sorry I didn't take any pics of the brackets prior to install. Basically fab'd from standard L brackets from Home Depot cut to length to align with mounting holes on body and desired length/projection of bumper. I placed 2 spacers for each bracket set (cut from 1/2" EMT pipe) between the L brackets and bolted together to hold the dimension where the bumper slides onto the bracket.

I cut the end caps with a utility knife. Prior to removing the bumper I placed 2" wide tape following the body line. This was how far I wanted to move rthe bumper in. Once everything was off, I slowly and carefully followed the edge of the tape to score a line making several passes with the knife to get though the plastic.

The whole project took approx. 2 hrs

Well All my work didn't start today but it did finally end today.

All started with constant heat in the car, the clip was good so ordered a heat valve, and well you know how that is as long as you have to drain the coolent system to replace a heat valve you might as well replace all the hoses at the same time, and well the tank was really dark so hard to see the level so might as well replace it as well.

Hmm well as I am replacing all that I realize it's probably time to replace all the vacuum lines now too. SO ordered the Lindsey kit.

Ok well since I have to wait for parts, I might as well fix the Odometer since it recently stopped as well, so took it out figuerd out what gear I needed and ordered it.

Well as long as I am waiting on all those parts I might as well change out the rear speakers since they are original and sound like crap. So off to research and find a decent speaker.

Well once I got the coolent hoses replaced I discovered I still had full heat in the car, so after about 4 days of slow and constant research I discoved I had a bad wiring harness, so I had to rewire the HVAC system.

So finally replaced all the coolent hoses, all the vacuum lines, the entire HVAC wiring harness, Odometer gear, and rear speakers.

Finished last night, car back on the road.

Mikeran. Wow. You really suffer from "while I'm at it" syndrome. I think I will try and learn from your experience. My heat is on all the time, so I will take your lessons learned.

Last night, I pulled off the wheels and began measuring offsets of my current and new wheels to deterimine what size adapters to get, that will fill out the fenders a bit better. Just sourcing the adapters now. Looking for local sellers first.

"while I'm waiting", I will investigate the "heat on", and why my sub amp keeps cutting off/on while driving around.

Scott.

Belt and roller job!!! First one for me. A fellow rennlister did most of it and guided me through the rest. Runs much smoother now because my balance shafts were un aligned. But I have a very loud whine. Which belt would do that if its too tight? I doubt the timing belt is to tight because I have the auto tensioner.

BlackOP,

WOW! That is a nice & clean install, looks great and I am sure it sounds WAY better than OEM.

Let me know when you want to go to 14 speakers....

Man...it's not even the same planet. It has 3 4v amp outs for starters. It also has DSP functions for calibrating each individual speaker by size (high and low pass filters) , listening distance AND an algorithm for replacing lost frequency due to mp3 compression. This unit smokes for the price....plus color accurate display ability.

5 stars....I'm glad I waited. It sits aesthetically well with the interior...very organic.
