Default Vacuum up water in passenger side

Got thunderstorms yesterday and found the lower front door cards damp, under the speakers, and water under the carpet on passenger well. Read the forums last night, today removed the seat, lifted the carpet and vacuumed the water, dehumidifier running Tonite, check sunroof drains and battery tray tomorrow...i thought this was the best post on leaks. https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-944-951-968-forum/507156-leaks-need-some-advice-on-one.html ...

Started cleaning the engine bay. Ordered misc switches for the interior resto project. Where can we get a replacement carpet for the trunk?

I bought one! 1987 944 base w/ automatic tranny. Silver over Burgundy. Body / ground effects look pretty good. Nice original paint and the interior is a 9 out of 10 and EVERYTHING works... How often does that happen? LOL!!

Not bad for $3800.

Default Finally Back on the Road

After nearly two weeks of PMs and cleaning I finally drove my 1983 to work for the first time in 15+ years. Forgot what it felt like driving that tiny car on the highway. Researching and deciding where to get insurance took half a day too.

Default gots the WaPu and the belts in....

come a long way from the valve springs, car has had to sit in between due to travel and house projects.
finally, last weekend i was ready to put the new belts in, after replacing the water pump and sealing off the servo pump.

cranked it without spark and injectors connected to build oil pressure and get the lifters filled.

connected everything and it started right up!!!

i started filling the coolant and the steering fluid...

a few minutes in i hear a pop/scratch/eeeek... run to turn it off.

damn. can that be??? belts were tensioned via tensioner. was my 3rd time doing it.

belts covers off. come to find a snapped balancer belt. worst fear: other end got in between timing belt...

further investigation show crank and cam both still line up at TDC. lucky.

what happened?

looks like i forgot to properly torque the belt roller behind the timing belt tensioner. roller came off and fell down on the crank pulley...

took it all out, rotated the crank 3x over by hand, moves fine.

new belt and roller on order.

damn.

phl, have a beer and buy yourself a lottery ticket. Powerball is over $300 million.

You are one LUCKY individual.

I'd rather buy belts, than deal with a damaged head.

Glad you got away cheap.
I didn't...here's the compressor wheel on my 931 nut fell in...all this time I was wondering what that little rattle is..was suspecting exhaust somewhere..but it was actually a nut bouncing off my compressor wheel.
