What did you do to your 924/944 today

I figured out why it wouldn't fit. I had the seal on backwards I thought the rubber was supposed to face out, but it's actually the felt that faces out
After flipping it around I was able to reinstall my sunroof

New ignition cables, plugs, cleaned out the distributer along with the throttle body, threw in some injector cleaner & adjusted the throttle. Runs much better
Not gonna lie, more like two quicker attempts over two days but we'll say it was equal to a more productive Saturday with all of the recent Christmas shopping.

I'd been noticing a bit of a fuel smell on occasion, but hadn't really tracked it down until my wife commented that my car smelled like a gas station when I got home the other day. Popped the hood, and discovered that the fuel injector on cylinder 2 had decided that fuel goes around and on the engine, not just inside it...

Finally got around to installing my new fuel lines from rennbay today. Previously just the rubber was replaced from the hardline to the dampener and regulator and held on with a hose clamp. Not cool. Now on to all the other projects that never seem to end.

Finished the install on the new and freshly painted heater blower cover and the windshield wiper plastic cover. Next- to re-install the rubber firewall grommet that had to come out while putting in new heater hoses. Still pecking at it..chicken deal..

DME
After months of trouble shooting why my engine wouldn't run, a fellow forum poster loaned me a DME and it started right up!!. I'd forgotten what a turbo 944 sounded like.

I hit a tree with it yesterday.
Very hot and very windy here yesterday. Lots of bushfires still burning.
I was travelling home when a large part of a gumtree broke off in the wind and landed in front of us. Couldn't stop so I aimed for the fluffy end.
Smashed spoiler, headlight right guard, left sill, small dent in nose panel.
Off to the shop she went today!

KSorry to hear that, Psycho..I'm currently working on a tool to remove a cocked TT bearing inside the TT. Life just keeps getting better and better! It's 3 " inside the TT and a bit cocked and blocked. Have to go through the delrin insert to get it out...itty bitty tools...new bearing installer coming soon! Hope that it works better than the previous one! Wish me luck!

Sorry to hear that Psycho. I hope it turns out well...
I spent about 2 hours on highway 1 today, which was good fun. It's been raining consistently recently, and after months of drought, this means the roads were quite slick, and there were several mildly flooded patches. This meant I got to toy around a bit with lift-off oversteer for the first time in this car on solid pavement, and I love the responsiveness of the throttle. Catching puddles occasionally made me appreciate the lack of power steering even more. I still haven't experienced better road-feel through steering than in this car.
However, I was unusually glad to make it back in one piece today. I've never regarded the bay area as a producer of great drivers, but I witnessed some astonishingly bad ones today. Ones who think it's okay to drive without lights on when visibility is down to maybe 400 feet and keep just a car length behind the next vehicle even doing 55 in those conditions. There was one kid in particular driving a black dodge dart (the new one) who thought it was okay to cross the double yellow line on blind and semi-flooded curves without lights on, doing closer to 70 than the recommended 25. To his (or her? nah, probably his) credit, he did turn on his lights eventually, and stopped to check on a mustang someone had just rammed into the canyon wall...
In summary: wow the 944 is good, and some people don't understand traction/physics, or for some reason want to end up paying higher insurance rates.

Moved it to where it belongs... A garage. I've been living in situations where all I had was a parking space or driveway spot at best, but finally moved to a place where I can actually set up shop and start some cool long term projects. About to install lighting, basic shelves, space heater, and a mini fridge.
