Properly adjusted the emergency brake for the first time since the factory did it. Thank you Jurgen for the walk through in your replacing S2 brakes video.
Fixed an intermittent wiper issue when wipers were off. Prob was in column switch. Cleaning contacts resolved. Also replaced front left signal assembly that was damaged.
Finished up my first 944 clutch job! 24 hours of garage time over three days, and no real setbacks, just a LOT of parts to take off and put back on, plus a handful of 'while I'm in there' bits that contributed to some extra time.
New clutch, pressure plate, rear main oil seal, pilot bearing, clutch master and slave cylinders, fuel filter, plus speed and reference sensors- drives like a whole new car! Seriously, I'm astonished how much difference this all makes.
FINALLY got my S back on the road today after starting entirely too many projects over the winter. But on the bright side, my old, stained black 'n' tan interior is now replaced with new black carpet, black leather on the dash and center console, and new RS-style door cards. On the outside, my S is now sporting GTS headlights and some nice lightweight and sleek CF mirrors. All told, I shaved about another 30lb off the car and made it much nicer to be inside.
It was late last night when I finally finished, so this crappy cellphone pic of the interior is all I have at the moment:
Gotta love US emissions and bumper rules. We got screwed all around. Slower and uglier. At least the 951 front looks good! And didn't get hosed on emissions. I'm really thinking going a Euro rear when I do the respray tho....
A few weeks ago I discovered one of my crossmember bolts was loose, it had backed out to where it was finger tight. Because that meant that only 1 bolt on that side of the car was actually restraining the loads put on that half of the crossmember for X amount of time, I decided to replace all the bolts just to be on the safe side. For $1 each, who cares. As for the bolt that had backed out, the bolt's threads were boogered up, I figured that was the issue.
So tonight I installed them, and the replacement for that bolt which was loose is maxing out at ~30 ft-lbs (spec is 63) and just spinning. Damnit. Good thing I ordered an extra long M12 bolt just in case that happened... there seems to be good threads further in.
