Fixed the driver's door speaker on the '86, also removed the sunroof panel for the first time (to work on it). Then I adjusted the e-brakes. This turns out to be more important than I'd have thought.
I took off in the car about 2 months ago, and immediately heard a constant grinding noise, synch'd with wheel rotation speed. Pulled in and pulled it apart, found this:

The "pressure spring" that holds the shoe to the backing plate was completely gone. I believe it came out because the shoes had to move too much when the e-brake is applied, and the spring came out of its anchor, and fell out. I don't see how it could get out, but it was clean gone. Anyway, as you can see the shoe was totally cocked outwards, worn at a bevel across half the face of the lining. New spring, and a quick adjustment, all is well.

I bucket washed the 944 to rid it of the winter salts & grime...it was just above freezing here and I had to mitt off the snow & ice build up from the duck tail...but it thanked me with fine song....
Yeah it's now making the most splendid, sporadic and non engine revving timed - no cadence - random tweet..a cute "lil spring bird chirp" from the alternator as best I can tell (no PS, & AC on -off no effect).
So I said to myself "lets see how long that will go" ...after all it is a very tiny bird and appears to go away once warmed up, it will make it until it is way warmer and convenient to wrench on it right?
Then I came back inside thawed my hands while 3d solid modeling away on CAD a concept for one of our lister pals here in the quest for more 944 speed!!!! But alas it will be for other's 944, & my lips are sealed....

Over the last weekend, I have done several things. I replaced the belts and rollers and cam tower gasket. P/O didnt know wth he was doing cause the balance shaft wasn't tightened with that special tool, and the cam tower to head gasket was sloppily installed to the point of it overlapping some of the lifters. O.o Anyway, got that fixed and took it for a drive in the hill country today. This is a whole new car. Feels nothing like it used to. I love it. I am in love all over again.
One thing I will say about having so many of these cars, is that I can take the airbox, j boot, fuel rail, AC belt, belts and rollers, belt covers, distributer cap, and starter, all in near as makes no difference, 2 hours. About 3 to put everything back on.
Now onto detailing. Car sat for two months ish when the cam tower started leaking some oil onto the exhaust manifold and induced some smoking. So it just sat in the carport. Cat prints, bird poop, and something else Im not quite sure what it was, was there on my hood. It was getting rather cold and dark out, so I did a real quick wash of the outside, but earlier during the day, from 3pm till 6pm, I vaccumed, and detailed the inside. Looks. Epic. Heres a quick photo I snapped before the sun went down.

Installed rear KYB Gas adjust shocks, replaced the CV boots, had the alignment redone. Also did an oil change using Castrol GTX (on sale!) and cleaned out the engine bay.

Wilwood 4 pistons are in. Replaced all fluid with ATE super blue. Replaced one hard line to the master. They feel wooonderful.
Next, wire up power to the passenger seat. (993 seats in an '84.) Already did the drivers seat as that was more important.
