Got my oil cooler off... that was fun.

Now just need to remove front sway, drop steering rack and the cross member. Swap out pistons, ring the new pistons, replace rod bearings..... just a thing or two.

You(oviously) have too little negative camber on the rears.
Nice that they fixed the caster problem on the front left tho.

Do you mean because it's 'red' or because of the value?

The front was messed up because I had it all apart and didn't attempt to set the caster or camber prior to the alignment.

I think I did pretty good on toe using the string method - it was uneven left-to-right because I had the steering column off by one spline.

Do these settings look okay for a street car?

Car feels a lot better regardless.

Both. The specifications are listed there. It is red due to the fact that the values fall outside of the spec.

Your shop didn't dial in enough negative camber. You will likely have more wear on the outboard edges of the rear tires since they will not be planted as designed (and as defined by the spec). You will also not get full grip potential of the rear tires as a result.

It looks as though you want -1.0 (+/- 0.3) degrees of camber.

I'll call the shop and find out. It looks pretty deliberate.

Finally felt motived to install the Only944 shifter, short shifter, and linkage.

Backstory - I really thought I needed to get my transmission rebuilt. 3rd gear would always grind, and it was difficult to engage the other gears.

I changed out the fluid to Redline MT-90 and that totally fixed 3rd gear from grinding, but it still felt "crunchy". All my shifts would take an extra second to fall into place.

OH MY GOD. These three shifter parts have made driving the car so much more enjoyable. Downshift upshift downshift upshift just for fun now!

Unrelated - I discovered yesterday that my headlight washers go berserk when the lights are on. It was comical. Seems the switch (stalk) needs some attention. I just pulled the relay for now.

Replaced the fuel filter, pulled the injectors, and sent them off to Dr Injector to have them serviced and flow tested.

Pulled out the passenger side outer door handle (actually pulled the whole door panel off before realizing I didn't have to...) and found out that the linkage has snapped off.

Replaced the rotten rubber heater hoses with silicone and flushed/filled the coolant.

Next weekend: Repair that door handle, replace the front sway bar bushings, reinstall the injectors, and try to diagnose the headlight motor. Currently, they'll go down, but not up. Maybe the motor is just burnt out.

it died on the highway this morning...
coasted off, pulled into a VFW parking lot.
diagnosed no spark, used jumper cables to hook battery to ign coil+ directly, car started.
with the problem figured, i salvaged a long piece of wire, remnant of a past project on the car, stripped the ends with my teeth and secured in between batt and coil...

made it 40+ miles home after that.

Last week on the 87S:

Replaced oil pan gasket (thank you to whomever suggested keeping it aligned with dental floss)
Cleaned all the bits that came off (cross member, sway bar, underneath parts of the car, etc.)
Converted the power rack to manual and removed all the plumbing.
New rod bearings

Sure it doesn't sound like a lot but it took a very long time over 4 days as I had never done this job before.
Doing it again would take less than half the time now that things are cleaner and I know what to expect.

Still on the list:
Pilot bearing (clutch still has plenty of meat on it), rear seal, torque tube, replace half shafts...all 'simple' things right?

If the TT bearings are not growling..leave them alone..It's a pretty good job to remove and replace them..The TT is the first thing they put into the chassis at the factory. Remove transmission, drop the entire rear end , exhaust, then you can get at it. Then the fun begins. Constatine will be glad to swap one with you for about 1500.00 at Blacksea..He does this for a living, and has great bearings.

I have a replacement already it's just a matter of doing it. The current one knocks a little at idle from the rear most bearing. Once you take off you don't notice it.
