What did you do to your 924/944 today
#7456
I set up a page on 924board with a post for every car I've ever purchased, and cross-links to build threads:
Chronology
Chronology
I can't decide if I am relieved or disappointed that you got that car out Iowa without me finding it.

Yesterday, had the 944 roll off the scissor jack and pin my arm between right front tire and wheel well.
I'm a little sore and a little smarter.
The story...the car is garage kept, in reverse gear, and no parking brake set.
The front right tire was flat and had to use the scissor jack out of the trunk because the car was too low for my garage jack.
Took tire off, repaired the leak, and was trying to get tire back on the lugs.
The car rolled forward and my arm was caught.
Fortunately the wife was at the barn and heard me calling.
She was the one that needed calming down, especially when trying to explain to her how a scissor jack works.
She now knows what a scissor jack is, and I know to remember to set the parking brake, or at least block the tires.
Next time may do both.
EDIT, Why the hell are these links showing up in my posts? Happens again in my reply!

I thought this was the "What did you do to your 944 today" not, "What did your 944 do to you today" thread
In all seriousness, glad you're okay, and not missing an arm. I've heard too many horror stories from older shop hands, and now whenever I take my wheels off, they come off in pairs, and slide under the car, as backups for the jack stands.

BTW, Jackstands were right there as I had earlier had the car on the stands to pull the radiator. Saw no need to reinstall jackstands for a quick tire fix.

Installed a new rear hatch lock cylinder grommet as the PO was too lazy and cheap to spend $5 on the replacement. Had to dig out the nasty, still soft black rtv he had used instead.
Given everything I've found over the past couple of years I really hope that guy gave up working on cars.

Found the reason for the heat in my cab being on all the time. Broken flapper linkage. Now I can drive without loosing five pounds in water weight every time I go to work. Good thing I got it fixed, because the Arizona summers are killers around here, no need to add to the sweat factor

I was running at 2 degrees advanced before, but set it back to 0-degrees (straight up) for smog testing earlier this year.
So since about January I have been running with stock camshaft timing...until a few days ago when I re-set the 2 degrees.
I did this to make the most comparable dyno test against my previous Rogue setup. Once that is done I will probably try 4 degrees to see what it's worth...

I replaced the taillight already, temporarily. Once I know when the insurance adjuster is coming the broken one goes back on.

Ouch, sorry to hear that Mista. I've noticed people just don't see the 944 since they are so low. More than a few times I've watched people behind me come to an abrupt stop after they finally notice I'm in front of them. I usually keep a good buffer in front of me and keep an eye behind me. Do the same thing when on the motorcycle.
As far as what I did to my car today, I changed out the power steering suction hose for the updated version and flushed the system. Original hose was collapsed in one spot. Steering feels better, but need a bit more time to see if all the little funky issues are cured. Also installed a new PS fluid reservoir.
