This has been over the last couple of weeks, but I have my engine about 80% assembled. Just waiting on the new cams to show up to finish the assembly and install.

You might own a 944 if...

You follow this schedule:

1. Discover oil leak.
2. Wait a few months until you really need to stop it, supplementing a quart of oil at a time.
3. Fix oil leak.
4. +1 month.
5. Repeat

I have an alternative service schedule:

1. Find a little oil around a seal, but nothing on the ground
2. Declare that you will not tolerate any oil leaks
3. Order the gasket
4. Forget you ordered the gasket
5. Remember when a box shows up
6. Put it on
7. Find yourself with a bad leak
8. Buy a case of oil

hehe, my cam tower seal sat on my desk for a month or two before i decide it was leaking enough that it would be worth the trouble to change it =p

I'm still in the phase where I try to ignore the oil leak. You guys aren't making this easy!

drove 20 miles to work, filled the tank on the way home, 20 miles back. noticed that the gas filler overflow hose drains into the RR cubby before going through the drain hole....that explains the gas smell.

That might explain my gas smell too! My amp is in that cubby. Wonder if it's getting drenched in fuel

After 25 years the rubber and liner in the filler hose that runs from the fliller pipe to the tank degredes and if soaked for a while it starts leaking. I found this out when I filled my tank all the way up and then parked on a road with significant camber and it made gas flow up into the hose and after a little while I had a fuel leak. I fixed it but then sold the car soon after.

Seafeye, I love the rocker graphic on your 944!!! Did you purchase that online, or have it made locally?
