I’ve wondered how the SRS did maintaining grip over uneven surfaces, as I’ve noticed in a couple of YouTube reviews a point where the engine sounds like it’s losing grip.

I'm still due to pick up some custom molded musician's type earplugs from an audiologist soon. If money is no object I'd probably go that direction.

I've been driving with ANC AirPods in my "weekend" cars for 5+ years. Ear health is nothing to **** with -- tinnitus will develop years after the actual exposure to the loud noises that eventually cause it, and you don't want to be wishing you took preventive care earlier when there's nothing that can be done for it later.

Sportster!!!! Jeez. How can a person be a Porsche enthusiast of even the most basic level and not know what a Speedster is?

I’m pretty sure I’m dumber after having watched the video.

Thanks for the comparison! I remember when you and the other fellow arranged this drive during a thread discussion.

Not sure if you’ve already done so elsewhere, but do you plan on providing a writeup on the experience of Speedster vs Spyder RS?

In particular, I am interested in the following:
1) Steering feel (weightless, speed of steering ratio, road feel)
2) Sensation of nimble handling — feeling of lightness in weight, athleticism
3) Cornering grip and outright better handling car around turns
4) Loudness of engine
5) Sensation of speed/ which car feels faster
6) Ride compliance

It would be fun if both you and the Speedster owner commented on these.

I did test drive a Speedster exactly a year ago and while I thought it was awesome, I didn’t feel overwhelmed by how great it is. I have a 991.2 Carrera S (Cabriolet, 7-speed), and it is no slouch of a sports car and I do not think it is 1/4 as good as a Speedster (given the price differential). I honestly kind of feel the same way about my own Spyder RS. I think it’s terrific, but is it 2.5x better (according to the 2.5x price tag difference) than my Boxster GTS 4.0? If I’m being intellectually honest, I say no. The most impressive thing for me about Spyder RS is the PDK transmission. It executes the most violently amazing downshifts from high gear to low gear across multiple gears. Ever purposely carry speed — say, 50-60 mph — in PDK manual mode (while in PDK Sport and in high gear, say 6-7th gear ) into a traffic circle at very moderate throttle, move the lever over to automatic, hit the brakes almost full and into the apex of the turn, and witness the utter violence and near instant execution of those downshifts by the automatic transmission? It’s amazing. For me that makes the car; the engine is impressive but let’s face it — the car is not a very fast car like other cars are today e.g. BMW M5/M8 and every other sub- 11-second 1/4-mile car. What it is is a pure athlete: it is Muhammad Ali, while other faster cars are George Foreman. Different ways of arriving at a similar outcome, which is driving pleasure.

I’ll have to get back to you on all that this weekend - we unfortunately ran out of time and weren’t able to drive each others cars. Too much time spent filming the video and apparently putting down the top incorrectly hahahaha

Gotcha. Ha. Check out my reference guides thread where I posted some nice instructions about how to do the top, if applicable. I actually have an updated set with a few spelling corrections but there are no material changes.

And per this reviewer, it’s just a collector’s item. PUT THOSE KEYS AWAY IMMEDIATELY!

I guess Mexico only got a handful.

And yes, I’m desperately digging for content while waiting on my car! So what?!

Whoever is complaining about the top is out of their mind. It is so easy to put on and take out. It is easily done by one person. In fact, I felt I did it faster by myself.

Obviously that is a 1-day observation. Maybe I am still in honeymoon phase and I am sure the complaints will come. But, lord, what a great car.
Thank you for the write-up. Very informative. Great spec too! What's the colour?

The video was worth it just to hear Noah comment on the top. Great perspective and hilarious!

Posted some delivery day impressions/pics here, but here are some shots from my second day out (day after delivery). At the time I’d still not revved past 5,000rpm, but I just cracked 1,181km today and revving to 6,500rpm. Wow. This thing screams! I can’t even imagine how loud it’s going to be at 9,000rpm. But I’m loving it so far! Now that I’ve had a bit more time with it I’d say the car feels even more planted than my 981 GT4 – though admittedly it may just be placebo and the fact that it’s brand new. I’ve mostly been driving with the roof up as it’s been cold out. It’s quite noisy on the highway with the top up, rear window on, windows closed. It’s kinda hard to listen to a podcast (Bose), but not impossible. Music sounds great and I’m happy with the stereo, it’s just not ideal to listen to talking (I imagine the same for calls) if you’re going over 100km/h.

I’m looking forward to getting some shots with the roof off/windows down, but in the meantime:
