So I uninstalled Waze, and that banner was gone. But decided to show up in other menus. So I ended up uninstalling android auto on my phone and reinstalling it and presto. Happy weekend all.

@edub Did you actually use the model of GPS module you link to? I bought the same one recently.
In my case, although mib reported the antenna was connected, I never got any satellites at all.

Any luck with reproducing my issue?

No, nothing, the phone stays connected and working, no freezing or stoppages...

IIRC, there was a box that when checked say keep the connection/phone alive/unlocked when being used by AA did you find that?

Did I ask what phone you have?

Here's an update to my saga. I was looking at a 2018 Cayman GTS and a 2022 Cayman S. Both had Apple CarPlay, but neither had navigation. From this forum I learned the 2018 would not have the required connector on the instrument cluster, so I bought the 2022 and paid the dealer to install navigation. I didn't want to mess with any warranty issues and thought they would do a better job anyway. Now, however, they tell me the 2022 does not have the needed connector and they can't go back and change the deal.

My '22 GTS has the connecter on back of the instrument cluster for the LVDS cable. I'm guessing your dealer didn't pull your instrument cluster to check.

He did. They bought the LVDS cable and were going to install it when they saw the cluster is missing the connector.

That's strange, others with '21's and do 22's have it, I hope they didn't miss it as It's a bit hard to see because its partially shrouded by a plastic hood when viewed from the side.

Possible I guess, but I would have asked to be shown the back of the cluster... I would have been in the shop with them by this stage!

Try to get the part number of your cluster. Also ask them to print the wiring diagram of the cluster. If you have this in writing, they should replace the cluster at their cost. Visually inspecting the cluster would confirm if you have the connector or not. Good luck

I have a Pixel 7 but also had the same issue with Pixel 6. Sima unlocked AA for me but I'm wondering if there's a newer version that doesn't have the issue.

Are you referring to the AA option, "Start Android Auto while locked?"

Hmmm, originally AA was unlocked by Sima on my PCM, since then I have gone on to use AIO to update everything, by version are you referring to AA or the PCM?

FWIW, I have a Pixel 7 Pro. The "Start Android" is one setting, but I thought there was one about remaining connected (not going to sleep) as well?

I was referring to PCM. I've tried "Prevent Autolock" in Waze to no avail.

I was under the impression the AA operated somewhat independently of the PCM version but maybe not...
