Copy. Considering that the dealer wants $1,000 to install my "pre-wired" Porsche Dashcam, I'm afraid to ask how much they would charge to install the NAV - if they would even do it. Guess I should ask.

I hear you there, it won't be cheap, but if you really want to save money, the instructions including the video are very complete, a cable and PIWIS coding is required for the NAV to appear in the 4.5" TFT but even help for that is mentioned in this thread.

If you are not comfortable installing the NAV, reach out to some members in SD. There are a few of them in this forum. AIO method is pretty straightforward and easy. I think @Leader can do this after watching me do it.

You can deactivate NAV in MIB before visiting the dealer.
This should work right?
After the dealer visit you can deactivate the NAV again.

Another happy camper here. AndroidAuto activated on EU 2020 Spyder (w. Nav from factory).

Big thanks to 718socal! Wouldn't be possible without him.

...... 2. Any advice on how to route the required cable from the PCM to the instrument cluster?

@jmbowling since you have a 2018 your instrument cluster is most likely missing the connecter for the LVDS cable so you won't be able to display the maps on your cluster display. The turn by turn arrows should still work but no map. It seems Porsche didn't solder in the connector onto the PCB until sometime during '20 or '21. My '22 GTS has it but my buddies '19 Cayman S did not (both with factory CarPlay) .

That's a bummer. Does anyone on here have first hand experience with this?

I feel pretty good about doing the AIO on my own, but I do not have access to PIWIS to enable the nav feature in the instrument cluster. A similar discussion to this thread is on the 718forum, but an individual there promotes using PIWIS for everything instead of AIO. What are your thoughts?

@jmbowling to be clear finding the connector missing on the 2019 Cayman S is my first hand experience. For more info start reading at post #243 in this thread. Good luck.

@Z06jerry Ahh yes, I remember our discussion on this about the missing connector on the back of the cluster. I still think it would have been a worthwhile project to install the connector and try...

Like @Z06jerry said, If you don't have the connector on the back of the cluster and therefore no connection to the cluster from the PCM, you wouldn't need any PIWIS coding. In fact I answered your questions on this in # 1 and #2 of post #506 yesterday : OEM Navigation Retrofit DIY - Page 34 - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums

Yes, you could deactivate NAV with MIB before you go in... delete the upgraded Maps as well.

I cannot 'assure' you but that is the theory, with the SVM fix and deactivated NAV this could work.

If you still have 7UG on vo code, they will still know that.

I agree, but it was my buddy's Cayman and he didn't want to, if it was mine I would've done it.

FWIW, my buddy's Cayman cluster was activated by @718socal for Nav before we found out the connector for the LVDS cable was missing. After activating Nav with MIBAIO his cluster display shows turn by turn navigation arrows even without the cable, he says he finds that to be very useful. I don't know if the cluster would do that if it wasn't coded for Nav with PIWIS.

Good to hear, I would have too!

Possibly not, I recall an instance where the cluster display would post a "No Video" message without the coding?

At any rate, even without the 4.5" TFT in play the cost to get OEM NAV on the PCM is pretty cheap!
