Seller had to pay sales tax, some form of excise tax, fees, interest (or oppt cost if he paid cash), and others (1 tire replacement, tint, some form of PPF). After all that I think the seller barely came out ahead assuming he paid MSRP. Buyer ended up paying $19k over MSRP. Real winners are the state tax depts double dipping on sales tax, and the auction site.

Yes, yes, there is a cost to owning one of these -- no different than any other car though.

Most of the costs you noted are state dependent so any assumption how the seller ended up is pretty speculative.

Texas gives trade-in credit -- I didn't pay any sales tax on my car and registration is around $65 annually.

Perhaps netted was the wrong word; Seller received $14K above MSRP.

Sorry, my post wasn't meant to nitpick yours. I was making a broader observation that there's little to no meat on the bone on flipping base GT4/Spyder at current point in time after accounting for all the costs. I am not suggesting seller is a flipper - I would give him the benefit of the doubt that he isn't but that's beside the point.

Seller is in GA where it has a 7% TAVT aka sales tax (or ~$8k). Trade-in credit doesn't apply here since he sold it to a private party. Besides, even though trade-in credit is meant to benefit the consumer, most dealer price that in in their low-ball offer. Fortunate for the seller GA does not have annual excise tax which can easily be $2-3K in many states on the first year of this vehicle.

As I said, seller probably came out ahead (assuming he didn't buy a $7k full PPF). The parties that made bank on this are the state rev dept and the auction site at the expense of the buyer. I can't say I feel sorry for the buyer but it does make me shake my head a little.

Nicely optioned indeed. Yellow calipers and red interior colorway clashes a bit IMO.

Needs black calipers and a red roof. One of those are easier to change than the other, but at least it’s reasonably priced.
