In my case the car was sold by an LA Porsche dealer that's owned by a large multi-line owner, but that wasn't why I trusted them. My car has yet to be titled and was a Porsche Digital, company car ran on manufacturer plates with an in-service date of December 2021--has 2519 miles and was purchased by the dealer from PCNA in July. I've seen pictures of the under carriage which is clean as the day it was born, and from all appearances it looks like a clean car, so I bought it without seeing it in person. I couldn't get my cousin who lives an hour away from the dealer to look at it (I politely said, I understand & truthfully I'm disappointed in him). Car is supposed to be picked up by Plycars sometime next week. Waiting anxiously like a 6 year old waiting for Christmas day to get here.

I was more apprehensive wiring that much money (it's a cash purchase) to a Porsche dealership I have no prior relationship with, but I did check them out and called their sales manager and F&I person directly using numbers on their website, to rule out a scammer selling a car they don't have. Had it been a private seller or a non-Porsche dealer no way would I have purchased the vehicle based on pictures, the build sheet and low miles on the odometer. Clean car fax btw. While shopping online I found one in CT for sale by a VW dealer whose ad said Carfax verified 1 owner car--true but CarFax also disclosed it was a lemon law repurchase in CA. That one was a big nope. Make sure the paper trail is clean if you're buying a preowned car, and make your decisions accordingly.
How do you buy a car unseen ? How do you ensure the car is not in an accident ? I am in a similar situation on a certified boxster and have no issues related to mechanical piece as car is certified but not sure how to verify if the car is not involved in an accident / damage without a personal inspection

You can’t.

Not all accidents are reported to carfax, or can be delayed by 6+ months. Some major repairs are not even reported to insurance. And CPO and PPI frequently miss problems.

But I agree with you, I always want to drive the car before buying. If anything, it’s for mental peace, and fewer “what if I test drove it” regrets in the future.

It is even worse than this ^^^

A new car may have up to three panels repainted and or repaired at the port of entry and no disclosure is required to the owner.

Without a careful inspection by an expert you may not know that your car has had paint work 🤷‍♂️

That is different most likely it will have the same finish as its done at factory unlike an independent body shop painting the car and trying to match factory paint.

Buy used Porsche 718 Spyder at Porsche San Diego

Beautiful Signal Yellow Spyder below original MSRP! I'd be trying reeeal hard to justify if it was a manual..

Yeah, manual and swap out the black wheels and it’d be close to perfect for me. Still, price is reasonable for that car IMO.

**Incoming blasphemy**PDK is far superior experience with the 718 4.0 IMO. After x2 718 4.0 manuals, and now a PDK. The PDK is vastly superior, especially wrt the gearing ratios. I'm a full gear taller everywhere, and I actually get to change gear more than 1st to 2nd. I love a manual as much as the next guy, but the PDK is so much better for this platform IMO.

that's the beauty of opinions! I posted it here so someone who loves PDK can take a look... IMO the car is slow enough that you're not really gaining anything by going PDK. With a GT3, that last 1000rpm revving is manic and you have to stare at the tach to shift right, which takes away your focus from the road, so i could see the point there. I went from a PDK GT3 to a manual 718 4.0 and won't look back. Gearing doesn't bother me. The PDK is plenty long too...2nd is like 5mph lower than the manual.

The gearing delta is substantial. I assure you, empirically speaking.

Manual is very noticeably taller

We probably shouldn't turn this into yet another PDK vs Manual thread haha. Let's call a truce my friend

PDK, no PCCBs, I assume no buckets, and that interior which IMO should only go with silver, white, or chalk. That would be a hard no from me.

The market is not what it was a year ago, free money has dried up and supply chain issues have abated. With all the right options, and if you are willing to pay an ADM, I would say $5-$10k unless you are talking RS.
