I couldn't get it to work correctly this morning. I really hope that the PDK comes with extra torque. The rating of the manual transmission has been holding back the 981/718 torque to no more than 309 for many years.
An extra 8 ft lbs would also make the increased cost for the PDK, more tolerable.

I'm definitely expecting PDK only and even more than 317 torque in the GT4RS.

So in the USA...

718 Cayman GTS 4.0 -- $86,800
718 Boxster GTS 4.0 -- $88,900
718 Cayman GT4 -- $100,200
718 Spyder -- $97,300

Why is the convertible (Boxster) $2,100 more expensive than the coupe (Cayman) with the GTS 4.0, while being $2,900 CHEAPER with the Spyder/GT4?

Going from Cayman GTS to GT4 is a $13,400 jump.
Going from Boxster GTS to Spyder is only a $8,400 jump.
WTF?

The Cayman GTS 4.0 and the Spyder are the bargains.
The Boxster GTS 4.0 and the Cayman GT4 are too expensive in comparison.
Anyone has any idea what Porsche was thinking with this pricing?

Not sure this $100k GTS 4.0 Boxster is 5x better than my 987.1 Boxster S. It may end up being not better at all, regardless of price, as I have yet to drive one to find out.

I will guarantee it will not be even 2X better than your 987.1 S

I think Porsche was considering 981 Spyder vs 981 GT4 sales. At that time, GT4 demand was significantly higher than Spyders. I've read stories of Spyders sitting on lots. My guess is that Porsche wanted to increase Spyder sales and also saw ADM on GT4 so why not high higher margins on the GT4 if the demand is there?

Default Wheels

As I work the configuration, one area I’m not set on is wheels. Going back and forth between the 718 Sport painted silver and the Carrera Sport wheels. Where could I find the weights of these sets. Could make a difference in my determination.

Any help would be appreciated.

One thing to consider is that the Spyder has a manual top and the Boxster GTS 4.0 has an electric top.

God bless,
TT

Doesn’t the GT4 have some extra bits that the spyder doesn’t?

True. It does make the Spyder cheaper to make.

Not with the 718, as far as I know. They have the exact same suspension (GT3 front), engine, and transmission.

O boy, Python Green now available on the Spyder, too. There were TWO big wins for the Boxster GTS 4.0 over the Spyder: auto top and Python Green (which was not offered on the Spyder this year). Now with the Python Green also available on the Spyder, the Spyder having the better looks, AND its GT3 front suspension costing only $8,400 more (vs $13k+ more with the GT4 vs Cayman GTS), the Boxster GTS 4.0 is not such a clear winner vs the Spyder any more.

Is it possible to specify high gloss black for the standard Sport Design Package and/or the Side Air Intake Grills? I have those options on my 2019 718 BGTS and they look great.

You got free carplay from the gts! And auto dimming mirrors!

I'm sitting here thinking I don't feel the need for more than the 300 hp I have in my base Cayman version but I am attracted to the looks and available options of the GTS. I look forward to hopefully checking one out sometime in 2021!
