Alcantara is a brand name for artificial suede. It seems porsche changed their supplier of the material and are calling it Race-Tex now. Alcantara was the company that developed it years ago.
I've heard all kinds of reports re this material on steering wheels and manual shifter ***** but don't hear too much about it as a seating surface. Seems like it could be warm in the Summer, any truth to that? Also wondering how it wears as a seating surface.
wondering the same thing...the steering wheel shows a change to blue leather (and gear lever is hard to tell) but the wording says change to black leather
that's a no go for me...the old Boxsters had black steering wheels even if the interior was beige or some other non-black color....didn't like it then, won't like it now
My 987 Boxster S with full natural brown leather has no parts covered in black leather. Every piece of leather in the interior is natural brown. I hope the same will be the case with the Espresso in the GTS 4.0. If the shifter cover and handle are black leather then that would be a no go for me either, and I assume for almost everyone else. Makes no sense to keep those black and it looks off.

seems like the Configurator isn't quite ready for Prime Time
and one last question? why is the PDK so much more expensive in the GTS 4.0 models?
is this another configurator error? or does the GTS get a PDK-S version?
That's going to look really good. I wish I could see that color combo, or other colors with Espresso leather and Gold wheels, in real life.
Agreed. It'd be great to see Aventurine green on a Cayman. Maybe the pricing on the GTS package/leather isn't finalized, as I recall it used to be all-in for around 3k. I'm trying to keep my build under that 100k number.
Looks like the Canadian Configurator is finally running properly...that was a total fail start...
I wouldn't rely on it yet as there are still lots of errors. I suspect a major one is the availability of PDK. The write-up discusses the 6M only and other markets don't seem to offer PDK (I checked GB and Australia).

Extended deviated stitching gives you the extra stitching that are outlined in yellow. The yellow parts are missing from the non-extended option.
