Default Standard Headlights?

Am I correct in assuming that they have the wrong headlights shown on the configurator?

GTS normally has the better Xenon lights with black bezels.

Standard equipment lists;
  • "Bi-Xenon™ Headlights in Black incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) with integrated 4-point LED daytime running lights"
I really don't care about the LED lighting as I almost never drive at night and don't relish spending the money on them just to get blacked out lights.
(I do not like those silver bezels on the configurator)

yeah they are black. I’ve seen a delivery video with the standard lights already.

Yeah, the configurator is not showing correct headlights at this time. Also, if you select Premium Package it doesn't change the headlights to LED.

Here's what I'm thinking if I go Carmine Red: http://www.porsche-code.com/PM5YD2X9 Am I overlooking anything? I'm going back and forth on the Premium Package: I've never had a complaint about the Xenon headlights, although I'm sure the LEDs are great. Upgraded sound over stock is nice however, as are the silly things that should come stock, like lights in vanity mirrors/etc.

If I go for aventurine green, I'm not sure which interior to go for. I've heard that the Natural Leather may not hold up as well over time/require more maintenance?

Your Carmine Red build looks great. Premium Package is a must in my book, it's just got too many things I wouldn't want to go without... LEDs, PED, MFSW, and upgraded sound. I'm a model deletion kind of guy myself, +1 there. If you went Aventurine Green I really like Chalk interior. I considered that combo myself (went GTSM instead).

I would add gloss black window trim, rare option that, I think, is pretty neat as the standard matte black looks kinda cheap and over time fades if not treated.

Carmine Red and those red black calipers are going to clash, I think. They look better in black, or I'd get them re-done in Carmine at least if you want to retain colorful brakes.

Anything that isn't leather or Alcantara on the steering wheel sucks, in my experience. That CF feels like plastic, has no grip and it's gonna be annoying in the summer.

LEDs are for sure great, get them. Wouldn't bother with LCA nor keyless entry as the latter makes the car easier to steal.

But that's just my personal opinion.

I haven't heard that about it not holding up as well. From what I've seen, I'd guess the opposite. I have Natural Brown Leather in my current 2005 Boxster S and love it. Looks great after 15 years and 40k miles. With time I expect it to develop patina shades like a used saddle which would look great. Annual cleaning and conditioning should be enough, just like with the standard leather. Espresso would look great with Aventurine Green.

Thanks, you guys have given me something to think about. Just have to decide whether I want my original Carmine Red spec or the Aventurine Green. I love the way Carmine looks, I like the way Aventurine looks...I think. I think I need to see it in person again. If only PTS weren't $12k. I refuse to play that game.

Carmine red is a great color. GTS interior package is a must - part of what makes the GTS special. Our 981 Boxster GTS is carmine.
Personally I would not get the gold wheels.

You were more restrained than I was selecting options! Mine was about $111k. At that point I figured I should just get a GT4, so I did! LOL

The launch of the N.A. GTS 4.0 configurator was pretty sketchy with all the errors and missing bits. I think after a week its about 95% corected but its still amateur hour over there.

So to add to the mess on the Canadian info page https://www.porsche.com/canada/en/mo...xster-gts-4-0/ it shows the engine as a 'Turbocharged boxer 6'

When I pointed it out to them and suggested they change it and remove the 'Turbo' part they responded doubling down

Wow, definitely amateur hour. Maybe they developed a custom engine for the Canadian market

I have a theory that PCNA jumped the gun on announcing PDK availability before Porsche itself was ready to announce it. This would explain some of the backtracking, disappearing PDK related specs, botched configurators, and lack of performance numbers for PDK variants. They should have only announced GTS 4.0 with 6MT, using a already released specs, and not mentioned PDK availability for GTS 4.0 or GT4/Spyder until Porsche was ready to announce it.

Oh that is sadly amazing. Happy Declaration Day weekend.

God bless,

Have they already started production of the GTS 4.0 with PDK?

Earliest production I've heard of so far is September.

Why is the convertible (Boxster) $2,100 more expensive than the coupe (Cayman) with the GTS 4.0, while being $2,900 CHEAPER with the Spyder/GT4?

Going from Cayman GTS to GT4 is a $13,400 jump.
Going from Boxster GTS to Spyder is only a $8,400 jump.
WTF?

The Cayman GTS 4.0 and the Spyder are the bargains.
The Boxster GTS 4.0 and the Cayman GT4 are too expensive in comparison.
Anyone has any idea what Porsche was thinking with this pricing?
The GT4/Spyder have more power, better suspension, better brakes, better aero, better wheels/tires, and are way better looking. Well worth the additional price of admission. I'd argue that the regular 718GTS is the one that's a tad expensive.
