Might we have the awkward situation where the 4RS could outlap the gt3? Would Porsche ever allow that, or would they make sure to handicap the car to maintain order? I think we all know the answer to that.
The 992 GT3 suspension has better geometry (front and rear), and it’s 40:60 F:R weight distribution is not a bad thing. These contribute to making the 911 more stable on track than the 718. Straight line speed is similar, and I don’t know how the aero downforce and efficiency compares. While I don’t think a stock GT4 RS will be able to beat a stock 992 GT3, with a proper track alignment (and associated mods, such as adjustable toe links), I expect they’ll be comparable.
Imagine it does have the GT3 engine and the Spyder RS gets same but with manual transmission then i would have get Spyder RS!!!!
Hopefully it's just same engine except for raised rev limit, different intake and a titanium exhaust all easily retrofitted save for manufacturer warranty if 414 hp at 8k rpm then easily 455 at 9k rpm...

if the Spyder RS has a starting price around $140K, with mid engine, manual transmission, and a GT3 engine, it will be really hard to pass on it.
Spyder RS with a manual would be a forever car for me! Super excited.
Sorry for the repost.....mods are welcome to delete.
If you have time to kill......keep in mid that Misha has run 100's of laps in high performance Porsche on the 'ring. Get's a bit more interesting around 7:55. His proposition is the GT4 RS may be a bit faster than stated.
Pretty sure the RS will already have adjustable motorsport rear toe links.
Hmmm....that would be the smart thing to do, but we are talking about Porsche here and I bet it will be the same design, same parts as the GT4...you will need those aftermarket toe links.

Maybe, maybe not. They really are only needed when the camber is increased past OEM.
I recall that a member had done the Manthey kit install (he posted it on here) which included adjustable toe links. He had to add stick on fender extensions (which came with the kit) because the additional camber kicked out the bottom of the wheels and thereby extended past the fender line, no longer covering the tires. This apparently was because of regulatory requirements, TÜV. I have as yet to see a mule having those.
Unless of course PAG changed something on the rear suspension geometry and/or changed the offset on the wheel/tire combo.

The GT4RS is already handicapped. That record lap had the front fender vents covered, making the RS a bit unstable as Misha pointed out on several video clips.
It seemed to me the pavement was damp in the first part.
I suspect the lap times are getting too close to the 991RS and 992GT3 to be comfortable for Porsche at the moment.
Original 987 Cayman S owner here and currently a 981 GT4 owner.
Not in the market for one of these now given all the dealer games needed unfortunately but I'm happy to see the full potential of this platform finally achieved hopefully.

maybe ? If it’s a limited edition priced at gt3 levels, and it’ll get destroyed by the 992 RS … why care ? Sell a bunch of cars, and then sell some more.
I guess one of the pluses from the new side window based intake could be being able to hear the induction noises better. And I am a sucker for induction noise (vs exhaust noise).
