With Manthey-Racing suspension mods and maybe a different driver, it wouldn’t surprise me if it can match the 992 GT3’s lap time.

For the sake of my sanity I hope there is no Spyder RS with GT3 engine with a manual transmission. I will die inside without that car if it existed.

Would it be safe to assume that these cars will also have priority in Europe first and then USA - rest?

I don't live in USA or Europe, I'm from Colombia, and for example here there's about 4-5 people interested in the new GT3, but the dealer has not received a single allocation of the car, and they don't know if or when they will.

I'm in the same boat as I live in PR.....Porsche Latin America still hasn't hand out allocations for gt3s....but all these cars usually are available first in Europe and them ROW.

speedster is too expensive and not mid-engine.
if the Spyder RS has a starting price around $140K, with mid engine, manual transmission, and a GT3 engine, it will be really hard to pass on it.

Theres an excellent tech article in 000 magazine on the 9A2 evo and while it is a brilliant engine
it does not have the capability to rev that high without wholesale parts changes.
that’s the key, cheaper to change internal and top end to similar material that’s in the GT3 engine as bore and stroke are identical then to change out engine and transmission mounts, redesign all external components and mounts as well as exhaust system.
so most likely a 9A2 engine with upgraded parts.

I could say that you didn't look too hard for it but instead I will just share the link...

Confirmed 718 Spyder RS is coming - Rennlist - Porsche Discussion Forums

Can you tell me which issue that has the 9A2 EVO engine article, our local club has a subscription and I would like to read it.

Thanks!

I am all over the manual transmission, the engine is not as big a sticking point for me as long as the power is commensurate with the price...

So what if it is 1/2 of the GT3 engine, 9A2 block but with upgraded internals etc?

It's in issue 15 in an article called Time Machines.. I own it to commemorate my Spyder!

Might we have the awkward situation where the 4RS could outlap the gt3? Would Porsche ever allow that, or would they make sure to handicap the car to maintain order? I think we all know the answer to that.
