This car will be the best driver's car. Swift reactions to driver input with the mid engine layout, it doesn't need to be manhandled around corners like 911s, it's all finesse, there is a reason why the top race cars are all mid engined.

I raced a Cup car, I tracked a GT4CS at my track, two completely different layout and driving style. Which one I prefers? It's satisfying to make a 911 do what you want it to do, but it is even more satisfying to control the less stable mid engine platform and make it dane.

Give me a choice between 992 GT3 and the GT4RS, I will take the GT4RS everyday. It may be the unloved cousin, the cheaper car, but doesn't mean it isn't really really good.

I was the first to suggest the GT4RS gets the GT3 engine way back then. But with Porsche developing a new 4L flat 6 for the 718 GT4, I am 99% sure the engine is a tuned up version of that. Pricing do make a difference in what engine Porsche uses.

The car will have an unbelievable intake roar. The rear quarter window panels are the engine intakes, so it's only 18 inches away from your ears. The only other Porsche to have something that close to the ears is the 918 with the exhaust stacks.

There won't be another version of the GT4RS, the 718 series will be replaced by EVs it would seems.
All makes sense. I’m not at your skill level on track. But having tracked a 981 GT4, 991.2 GT3 and 718 Spyder…i quite enjoy the cayman platform. Just feels one with the track. Just lacking power at CTMP/Mosport.

I hope there will be enough to go around, so I can get one.

do you figure a 1 or 2 calendar year run?

Im trying to get a special invite to the 1 or 2 GT4RS showing parties in LA and then LA Auto Show... but who knows if its possible to break into the inner sanctum and get an early view of unobtanium. I did go to PECLA today (drove the 992TTS/GT3 - older version - liked the GT3) and was specially introduced to the VP/Manager there and did get a couple of free macaroons with desert because it was my friends Bday... of course after she upsold me to buy some tickets to the 5 year anniversary party at PECLA in November! Porsche, there is no substitute (when it comes to taking your money)!

But it seems the 4.0 engines don't meet China emission requirement

Since they are using the same body-in-white...They could go bigger up (255 or 265) front on 9" wide rims (+0.5" compare to 718 GT4)...there you have an upgrade with less understeer and better turn-in.
A 305 on the rear? It will be a tight squeeze and 11" will the the widest rim you can use.
These changes on a regular GT4 does wonders at the track.....
Tires probably be one-offs Michelin Rs for the GT4RS.....and the Rs could be optional, not standard equipment

This makes a lot of sense froma business and engineering perspective.
You don't have to work on the packaging issues fitting the GT3RS engine to a street car
The y need to further stretch the 9A2 engine R&D cost while keeping 4RS production cost under control.....lets just hope they use better Con-Rods this time

What do you think this translates to in terms of worldwide production? (~2k units have been thrown around but two years seems like could produce more). Also thx for your (accurate) reporting on all this over past months/yrs.
