Wow - that sounds AWESOME...

So now we know Porsche can make the GT4 / Spyder sound better if they wanted to do so....

Can't wait to see this thing fully unveiled...

You also have to take into consideration the length of the track....probably no other track in the world will show those little increments like the 'Ring.

So it looks like the GT3 was only 3kph faster (286 vs 283) top speed and only 9 seconds faster on the lap, both on R tires? Correct me if I'm missing something. I don't think the GT4RS is running 21 inch 315 rear tires either. Where were Kevin or Lars? If this car was any faster Patrick Dempsey would be setting the track times.

I'm very excited about this car as a past first gen Cayman S owner who got to listen to many people crap on it because it wasn't a 911. For everyone who is interested in the 4RS, what did you think about the Cayman in 2006?

Looks like the GT3 shifter boot, and if you look at the GT3 video with the same tech the tach shifts at the same point graphically.

Jorg Bergmeister was a Factory Porsche Driver that was lent out to teams that campaigned Porsche racecars across various organizations and classes. So he has solid credentials and has been around for quite a long time.

Perhaps you might remember him from the epic last lap battle at Laguna Seca many moons ago racing against Magnussen on the C6R.

If you watch very closely at the last compression, I thought I saw 286kph just briefly (and pretty sure 285 at least) - seems like the same top speed as GT3 if GT3 was 286kph (4RS a little narrower and little less aero implies close to same power, perhaps a little shy).

Yeah - on same tires, it's within 9 seconds of the 992 GT3 but with a mid-engine setup!

Original 987 Cayman S owner here and currently a 981 GT4 owner. This RS will be the pinnacle of the mid-engine platform that started with the Boxster in 1996.

I was an fan of the of the mid-engine layout but boy did we get abuse from the 911 purists! I remember the long forum discussions on how Porsche was "holding things back", etc. It made for some very interesting chatter and there was a lot of passion on both sides.

Not in the market for one of these now given all the dealer games needed unfortunately but I'm happy to see the full potential of this platform finally achieved hopefully.

Original 986S owner here, and seeing the boxster/cayman finally unleashed has indeed been a long time coming.

Although only involved with the marque for last 15 years I have owned an iteration of every model, the 986, 987, 981 and now the 982/718 Spyder and agree that is great to see the full potential released in a production model!

Haha hoping it's the same engine as GT4/Spyder with redline raised to 9k from 8k... and a good titanium exhaust

If you look at the performance graph on dash of regular 718 spyder/GT4 (pic below), it already goes to 9K

Anybody hear the annoying injector sound at idle on the GT4RS video? that would be the clue as to whether GT4 or GT3 engine

As I had a 986 and now a 987S, you can see they've increased the inlet(s) for more air progressively by each generation to what we assume is(are) the side window intake(s)...

Wow-oh-wow! This GT4 RS looks to be the business.

Based on these videos, it looks like one of my predictions of only going to 8500 rpm was wrong. Looks like 9000 it is and all the better for it.

Some take aways...
1. 9000 redline
2. shorter gear ratios
3. cup r tires
4. PDK lever shows to be similar to how GT3 pdk lever looks like the manual lever
5. didn't see PDK paddles
6. radio delete (probably not available in US)

Still some assumptions/questions...
1. don't know hp
2. front fender vents still show to be covered
3. some kind of aero treatment on the front corners of the front bumpers
4. scoop in small quarter window - is it to feed air to engine (like ram air) or feed air to rear brakes
5. are wheels forged or magnesium or still cast
6. limited production number or just low production number
7. any changes to suspension layout
8. price
9. any body panels in carbon fiber
10. will the GT4 RS be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show?

One last thing to point out. It looks like the side scoop as shown here from an official picture from Porsche on facebook, it looks like it's larger (sticks out more.) If you look at the top part of the side scoop, it looks be larger than the one on the GT4. Again, I'm talking about the side scoop and not the scoop in the quarter window.
