I was told that my quite large dealer has only received one CGTS 4.0 allocation so far. Pretty much places it in the unobtainium classification if true.

True, my dealer received just 2 sport car allocations last round. One 911 and one GTS.I would assume with all the trouble with the war, ships sinking, supply issues, etc. Porsche only wants to take orders on things they can deliver on, without undue wait times, probably building in a fudge factor. Just in time inventory works just great, right up until it does not....

10k maybe, 20k no. As much as I love the car I'm not going to pay 20k over for the privilige to buy a car at MSRP (I know I'm the minority in this case). I'd rather hunt down a used car at that point.

You’re missing the point though, used examples are trading at $15-25k over MSRP. You’d be better off going new if you can snag an allocation in that range and spec exactly the brand new car you want.

Sadly 10k over isn't going to happen right now unless you have some type of relationship with the dealer or trade in to offer on a Spyder/GT4. Market is 20-25k, even 15k is a "good" deal today which is very difficult to get.

I dunno, I bought one used for over MSRP and I'm 100% happy with my choice because I got to drive the car now instead of wait around for a year. Car also came clear bra'd, extended maintenance plan and some extra options I wouldn't have specced which in the end worked out.

Is that what most folks are hearing? GT4 and GTS same ADM? sigh. The stress just kills you.

As someone who waited 10 months for a car, and keenly feels time slipping by (in terms of all sorts of things which make enjoying these cars a very finite activity), I agree with this sentiment wholeheartedly. Carpe diem folks; never has it been more true.

If you are patient, the used market is definitely cooling too. Used GT4 prices are dropping if you are watching for sale ads which indicates dealerships aren't getting those crazy high asking prices anymore.

Not sure how much it's cooling, someone I know just traded in their 133k MSRP 2021 Spyder with 800 miles PCCBS/Buckets/Burmester for 146k to a dealer. Dealer basically gave him 13k over on his Spyder. He obviously has a very good enthusiast spec which is really hard to find(6MT/Buckets/PCCBS) but also shows how strong the market is if the dealer thinks they can turn around to sell it at 155k+.

I would say the tides have shifted; Spyders are hotter right now since they're harder to come by... There is one online at an asking price of $176k, ha.

I hear people saying that the market on the 4.0 cars is cooling, but I'm not seeing any actual evidence to suggest that's the case. Dealers are still offering MSRP or more on trade in, and used examples are selling for 15k+ over MSRP. I haven't seen any drop in price on the auction sites (BaT, cars and bids, pcarmarket, etc), but there haven't been a lot of 4.0 cars listed there recently. BaT seems to have more 981 GT4 examples as of late.

Allocations also still appear to be few and far between and demand isn't softening.

Probably because of that, and summer is almost here. I have been following the Canadian market in the Porsche Finder pretty closely for a few months and have noticed an increase in convertibles. Currently, there are more Spyder's listed than GT4's, prices seem to be about the same between the two models, but the Spyders tend to be higher specs. Most cars, no matter the list price, don't seem to last more than 2-3 weeks which is probably "fast" in used car sales. One thing that is glaring, is that there are very few GTS 4.0L cars for sale, and when they pop up they're gone in days.

There was a spyder at $180k a few weeks ago; no idea what it brought, though.

This probably is the right place for this discussion but the writing is on the wall! Yes this is a low spec GT3 but less and less people are willing to pay super high prices.
