Unfixed until 2021? But kind of moot since the fix expiration date is at the end of Dec. 2019 (see prior messages). So, if you want to take the second half of the settlement, you still need to do it by 2019 (unless someone tells me there is a loophole somewhere)

So.... was the CPO Warranty 6 years, then 7 and then 8? My CPO was 7 years when I purchased (a 2013 CD) about a year ago.

8 years bumper to bumper and 2 more years on the engine is pretty dam good plus I get about 5k in cash (I have to share mine with the previous owner).

The best way is to call Porsche. Most of us bought the CD brand new so we only get the normal 6 years from initial date warranty. CPO on CPO is just plain confusing

I got the flier yesterday for the '13-'14 Diesel. All the potential side effects they mention kind of sound like a pharma commercial and language they use gives them a lot of wiggle room for sound and performance. I hope it is all very precautionary with the lawyers telling them to add that wording.

I'm pretty sure you have it wrong. It's "whatever is last", not "whatever is first."

From the brochure:
The warranty period for the “Extended Emissions Warranty” shall be the
greater of:

• 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s original
in-service date; OR
• 4 years or 48,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the date and mileage at
which the emissions modification was performed.
My warranty expires in 2020 (6/100). I was certain the way it worked out, if I wait until 2019 to take the fix, my warranty would go to 2023.

"Shall be the greater of" is between the two bullets.

The "whichever occurs first" is isolated to the bullet it's referenced in.

Sort of unrelated but, for many our TPMS batteries are reaching end-of-life.
TPMS is covered with the extended diesel warranty, got one of ours replaced Friday.

So, difference is between 2023 or 2024. That is a long way off to think. But I think you are right about having the fix warranty run to 2024. In any event, we all have to do the fix repair by the end of 2019 if we want the other half of the compensation.

Who knows? If the fix is so terrible, maybe some of us may not even bother to do the fix, forsake the half payment and take our chances with availability of some of the parts:

From page 13 of the booklet: "you should be aware that certain emissions-related replacement and repair parts may at some point no longer be available from Porsche."

I was relying on a post by Vivek about the deadline to obtain the fix (Dec 31, 2019). But on reading the court summary, it looks like April 30, 2020. Anyone can help me clarify?

Or if you took it tomorrow, your warranty would still go until 2024. Since you have a 2014 vehicle, you'd get 10 years on top of that (one year longer than 2023). Waiting until 2019 just pushes the cash off for 2 years for no gain.

I had to go back and read your message... then read the doc....

Yes, you are right. My personal situation weighs more on mileage than time. I put a lot of miles on my CD... I'll hit 100k way before 2020. So waiting until almost 100k to take the fix gets me a warranty to 148k vs 120k.

So... merely for time standpoint, yes, you are right. Doesn't matter.

For mileage standpoint, it does.

I am going to complete the repairs soon so that is not an issue for me.

OK I got the fix installed and drove home about 20 miles in mixed rush hour traffic. Observations: Power is the same; The sport mode has been sent out to pasture; The car does not lug the engine as much as previously ( would previously hold 8th gear maniacally, now it down shifts to 7th; my car has a new interior rattle at idle.

You will get two stickers under the hood: RHS black and white sticker saying vehicle conforms with consent decree; LHS sticker is diesel recall proof of completion.

They alsogave me a new fuel economy read out from DOT/EPA. Numbers are identical to the original: 23 MPG combined, 20 City, 29 highway.

I can't comment on the MPG yet. Stay tuned.

Sport mode does not hold up shifts like before the update. IMHO you might as well remove the button.
