Great pics John, and your new Turbo looks mint! Have you had a chance to drive it much yet?
Yesterday I was home as sick as a dog, which wasn't much fun except it gave me a chance to watch Bad Boys again

I only had 3 days in the Country. I managed to get the Turbo 3.6 WOF done, drove it to Hampton Downs return, then put it back into storage. The 996 Turbo managed about 150km before that was put into storage as well. I will hopefully get back in August for a week to get them back out on the road. Crazy. To be honest I don't think I should have bought the newer Turbo as now I'm going to be conflicted. The Turbo 3.6 is a classic and has started first time each time it's come out of storage, but I wouldn't let it out of my sight so is less practical than the ugly duckling younger sibling.

Beautiful John - still waiting for that elusive 'front' shot of the 996T though...
Bit overcast here today but finally took a few shots of the 964. Caught up with Ash over a coffee just now and had a close up look at his new Marine Blue 964 - man that thing is pristine. Honestly, it looks like it has just come out of the showroom - really special.
Anyway, I'm very happy with RED

3.6 Turbo is one of my favourites.................
I believe the black early 911 infront of your car has a short stroke 3.2 motor in it. I imagine it would be sella quick.................

I know you're just busting my chops, but I'll humour you. I like to think it's a quirky smile, but the reality is that it's one of the least attractive views on a 996 TT, but then it's not the view I see behind the wheel so I can deal with that. On the other hand there are no ugly views on a 964. Glad it went to an enthusiast.

See how you go with that lead I gave you. The invitation is open to crawl over mine when it's at Motorscience in a few weeks. As with the black one in the pic, there's always plenty of eye candy at his garage.

Sorry mate. Have a look at the photo in this thread though. This one left me lusting for a TT.

Very nice.
I think a decent set of wheels would go along way to improving the 996 look IMO. They're just not right for the body shape. Front doesn't look too bad to me, I guess some of those light kits could help give it that updated look.
Regardless, a great buy.

I picked up and washed a mates 997.1 GT3 CS.
The reason you may ask? He nagged me (3 times before I said yes) to take it out on Taupo race track last Monday so I thought I owed him
We were on the full A1GP track, all three of us (owner, my brother and me) were doing 1.47-1.48's two up, is that OK?
Got a lite smack on the hand for it being too loud, 97db from the titanium exhaust.

Drifting
OK, I'm officially a very happy 964 owner (subject to the small matter of paying for it!!)
Compression was good, 12-13 bar spread (12, 12.5, 12, 13, 13 & 13) which I think is between 174-188psi and max 8% variance. On that basis we didn't do leakdown.
Lots of minor issues to sort but nothing I haven't been through before so nothing unexpected;
- Bump stops on front shocks
- Wishbone bushes
- Front stabiliser arms
- Front discs & pads
- cracked spoiler wall
- small leak near the oil pressure switch
- Slight leak around chain housing cover
- and all the other minor cosmetic stuff you expect on a 20 year old car
So plan from here is just to drive her for couple of weeks and enjoy the feel as a daily driver. Pretty keen to hear any views on an ideal suspension set up for daily driving with "occasional" track day.
Pics to come in a few days.
Did I mention I was happy!!!

I found the Bilstein HD's with the extra thread for cranking the car down are a good middle of the road set up. If you need a contact for buying at the right price out of the USA let me know. All I know is how they transformed my car for what is not a lot of money.
Enjoy your new car mate.
Cheers
