Apparently, when really shot, the gear stick can be moved up and down a fair bit. I don't have that, but given the state of my oil lines I'm progressively moving through wear prone parts. The front bush is relatively open to the elements and appears to deteriorate. The more slack it allows in the linkage the less precision in the gear change. Even if you just replace the fron bush it seems like cheap insurance.

Thanks for the offer John - I honestly have no idea. Don't think they were replaced when the clutch was done but equally no idea whether they need doing. My shift is pretty average when cold between 1-2 but nice and clean 3-5. I was going to compare engine mounts with Dave on Sat as a starting point.

I've ordered two, where normally only one needs replacing. You know where to come if there are issues.

First fit. It's going to need some adjustment to get it to my standard.

John. they are never a perfect fit first time from what Ive read. getting a match on the white will require some skill.

Looks 1000% better than the old wing IMHO. Well done!

I'll have a closer look tomorrow at the fit lines and the adjustment ability. It looks like it needs to go higher. Anyway I'm liking how this is coming together.

I had a bitch of a time getting the bumpers on my white 968 colour matched to the guards. The guards were on 16 year old paint and had yellowed. It can be done however with some playing around. White I learned albeit flat and in that regard easier to touch up than metallic is not unlike red and yellow and burns off over time....

The fitting issues with the ducktail usually involve some preparation sanding down of the mold lines and playing around with height and left to right/up down axis. If its any consolation the factory rear lid isnt exactly a perfect fit either!

The front was touched up before sale and isn't overly obvious. As Peter will attest to, the bonnet is dimpled. In fact, the paint is ok in white but would look worse in a colour with its faults. I'm going to use this as a DD at some stage so no repaint right now. I need to keep focus.

Macca, how much for the Denis Jenkinson book? The man has glasses AND a beard, so he must really know his stuff! (OK, so I've just looked him up, sounds like a really interesting character, totally devoted to racing.)
