Cars are a little cheaper though, when you take the cost of money, holding and maintenance costs in, they have to consistently rise at 20% P/A. I see the UK market to coming off the boil big time, if you read UK blogs classic car dealers will only do consignments or steal it at the moment. You can physically see cars now being advertised for reduced asking prices. Will be interesting to see how long until it filters through to here. Aussie is truly bonkers. I wish we could import GT3's over there - all models are close to twice kiwi prices ($200K for 996's and $450K for 7.2 GT3's). I think Macca's 991 is circa $330K? Oh and $450K for 996 GT2's??
Yeah, remember not that long ago they were going nuts over GTHO's and the like

Long shot. Any one have any 275/35R18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports kicking around in their garage? 993 about to fail WOF on track ravaged Z221 and NZ out of stock. Alternatively anyone pitting together a Tirerack order let me know, thanks...

Gutted. Beaurepaires have a buy one get one at 50% at the moment which may have starved the NZ supply. Worth querying them about the next shipment?

Macca - are you looking for 2 rears or a set of 4?

I presume the gt4 is modded given the track specific nature of the car
I think quite different between Gen 1 & 2. I don't believe the R had any sump mods over the standard S but it is a gen 2 9A1 engine.

Gen 1 seems to have all the issues if running R comps and no sump mods. Choice of how deep you go with sump but compromise is that the deeper you go the less friendly are things like speed bumps! Tony R did a modest set of mods incl sump and baffles so would be good talk to. Chris B also had a fair bit of work done there.

Plan B could be trofeo R's on the rears?

They only do 265 or 295?

I'm looking for two rears tyres so 2 X 275/35 R18 MPSS....

Thanks mate. These are just roadies. I already have a half worn set of 235 fronts in storage taken off when I put the z221 on in Jan. The z221 had 1 track day and 2000 road km on them but after adding the equivalent of 3 additional track days and 1500 road km in Jan (HD, Taupo & Festival) they are now under WOF level. In fact I suspect they have only a maximum of 2 days at the track left in them (if that) so they will be binned as I don't have the space to collect old rubber I'll likely never re fit. They were the C70 soft and did give their all providing me PBs on every track I drove over summer. I think driven hard the z221 on the 993 are good for 6 track days and 4000 road km. The MPSC2 on the GT3 seem to last about the same but can handle more road km. Funding up three sets of tyres for both cars over the last month is the gotcha so the 993 will just get roadies as I don't expect it to see any further track time in 2016. I'll have it geo for the road and soften it all up so it is ready for a Northland run maybe in Nov when I'm back for NITT Doug willing.... :-)

Thanks Jeff. Noted :-). But Im delaying the inevitable. Probably should never had tried unusual sizing 235/275 MPSS tyres back when I ordered them with the OZ alloys via Tirerack back in 2014. With the 2x rear wear vs front ratio it locks you into a cycle. They are not a typical Porsche set so may be forced to go for a full set 225/265 (OEM size). The scary thing with Tirerack now is a set of those will be $2500 landed and taxed vs only 700 more for a set of larger R20 MPSC2 on the GT3! Ill get a local quote and see what happens....appreciate everyone's help and ideas tho...

I agree. Gen 2 engine doesn't have the problems of the gen 1 engine in which all these issues seemed to be solved (low oil pressure in sweepers and failing oil/air separators needing to be upgraded with GT3 versions.
