P.S. When stock tip sheets get circulated on the internet its usually a sign the opportunity is already 60-70% through its cycle!

Seriously. Its feast or famine isnt it. Either the NZ market is woefully underpriced (like the 964 turbo cab in green with green tipo) or its stupidly overpriced.
I give up really.

It's all a wee bit crazy isn't it? Was an interesting morning for me, spent a couple of hours driving the 964. The pragmatist in me stopped short of purchasing, knowing that I need a proper assessment of the mechanics before I take ownership, regardless of the potential 'value'.
Is the 3.3T the same one that was hanging around for months last year/early this year? I blame ads such as this: http://www.jzmporsche.com/porsche-fo...u-for-sale-623
Looks like someone is getting an ex UK RS for Xmas...

Yeah. More nose candy fuelled speculative pricing and absolute crap marketing from TM vendors who read Total 911 maybe? Seriously. Its feast or famine isnt it. Hey Jake. Thanks for the update. Always a good idea to get these things PPId. Small investment for some assurance.
Interesting a 997RS comes the opposite direction into NZ given they are more expensive there than here at the moment (and I heard a few here will come on to the market shortly as I am told there are over 12 firm orders already for the new 991 GT3RS which will break cover in a couple of months time).
Perhaps someone was immigrating back to NZ and decided to take advantage of the non GST rule? That would be the second 997.2 GT3 RS in that colour ex UK in NZ...

The 964 3.3T is ex sing IIRC. Yes its been on TM before. I may be wrong but i think Jamie was looking to buy this car around 14 years ago when it was relatively fresh in the country...
I've seen the 3.3t on there about 18 months ago? Can't be exact but the price was close to half that? The owner has obviously seen the other one on there and fancies his chances. We still driving tomorrow, I'm keen if it stays dry

Definitely driving tomorrow. 7:30am at Soljans Estate.
One thing is for sure; driving the 964 today made me really appreciate the 997
Was sitting at $80k for months. I considered it but having just bought my car decided to stop looking and enjoy what I had.
On another note: any recommendations on helmet and race suit for someone looking to participate in the occasional track day? Got my driver training & Prestigio cover lined up, so will definitely be joining some of you in Jan in my overpowered road cone.

No one on here does anything logical. We are all part of the human condition and flawed. Take Buba. He resists the GT3 but its coded on the helical strands of his DNA. First he must spend copious amounts of money sprucing up his 993 before he sells it and fulfils his destiny. Then there myself who insists on the insanity of spending copious quantities of folding on an old relic that essentially looks the same as when I started! There is John who has become infected by the Honda virus but still dreams of Herman breaking the 1.19 at HD. David has it bad this weekend. He's fully committed to a budget hotrod resto but as we speak is scanning car magazines on reviews for the new 80K Golf R sleeping wet hot hatch dreams.
Everyone of us have a different POV to the other, own what we own for different reasons. None are right or wrong. One man's floor is another's ceiling.
Go with your gut feel. If it checks out and your chick likes it buy it :-)

Worlds gone mad - I'm selling my properties and buying Porches. At this rate I will retire in 2 years.
Seriously - to quote Macca - Porsche's in NZ don't sell unless they are cheap coz we are all tight ***** and only buy bargains..........
Everyone wants a long hood - there are 3-4 examples for sale at the moment but none have sold as NZ is too tight to pay six figures for one.
If you want a 356 - I know of a few for sale.
Everyone wants a 996.1 GT3 - well CCS have a NZ new one with less that 50K on the clock for $89K - months later it's still there.
Want a NZ new Carrera 3.2 with lowish miles - there's one for $56K on TM for months.
We can get exited about UK prices all we like - but unless you plan on taking the car to the UK, no one in NZ will pay international prices.....(or a more accurate reflection is the NZ market will languish by a year or two's depreciation - as we like bargains.......)
I do think the manual C4 may sell quickly - it's NZ new, red over black (Pete's fav), and has low km's. I would have to have a hard think though - coz for $65K - you could buy a 997.1 3.8L C2S UK import - and man that's a whole lot more car, or a 996 TT.
I shall leave 993's out - as I think 964's are now probably worth more :-(
The Crazy thing is these cars (964 C4) weights a tone and a half, don't handle particularly well compared to other 911's and have been undesirable for these reasons for quite some time - not sure whats changed but all appears to be forgiven (No disrespect to C4 owners - you should be laughing as your cars are appreciating at the rate of $1K a month at the moment).

Dont beat your self up so hard on 993 prices mate. In many years of trawling TM we saw two earlier this year that were I believe mis-priced, they sold in days and the event has not been repeated (infact I dont think there have been any manual 993s for sale since). Im yet to hear of a recent 964 C2/4 sale over 45K and just this week a C2 wide body cab (ok its tipo) goes on the market for 29,995. A couple of damaged cars traded hands through the auctions recently under 30K. Will the 964 C4 sell quick at 55K. Maybe if you read Total 911 LOL!
Everything else you say is true. The 3.3T for 125K has been there a while now, the 996.1 GT3 for 120K was there for 18 months and the 993 C4S for 125K is over 9 months now.
This market hasn't changed in the nearly 20 years Ive been into Porsches.
So dont buy a Porsche in NZ as an investment is the lesson learned. Buy it to enjoy and then flip on a fair market value when another takes your fancy.

Buba. Heres a thread of interest. Some guy with a mint custom 964 wants to swap for a 993 coupe. Hell even throw on the original wheels and rectify the stance. Very tastefully modded vehicle with half cage and Recaro PPs by the looks. Could be your chance of an out ;-P (swap your 993 for Jamies Leftie then ship to the states!).
