The race was already hooooveeer .. hence the penalty ......
The lights on the side went from yellow to green. If the race was over and no passing, why?

Based upon the ruling, probably a marshaling screw up. HOWEVER, we all have been taught to obey the flags first, and if a green flag is displayed, then the track is green, despite the rules. If the marshals can't get it right, how do you expect the drivers to under the heat of battle?

This can be debated ad nauseum.

Webber never puts a wheel wrong, drives away from everyone including his teammate and wins handily. Eliminate the SC and Webber would have won by 30 some seconds. At least an equal drive in my mind.
Once again, spot on! My thoughts exactly.

Kudos to the team for making such a brilliant call!

On the same token, we are talking about Monaco, where passing is almost impossible. You want to degrade Alonso's drive, but this is expected at Monaco. I am sure he would had an easier chance on passing cars at another circuit. They made the most out of the situation.
Regards.

Heiki moved to block the racing line ,, I guess the nutty pros at speed convinced you otherwise or unless you normally make your passes on the outside...

Not for nothing, but this whole "move over thing" is a little wierd. We're always taught that we should hold our line and let the passing car make the move. And I remember Berger at Monza once, with Ferrari, moving over to let his teamate Alessi through going into Ascari, only to take both of them out! At the time, it was labelled a typical novice error, that he moved over to let the passer through.

Alonso's Passes were VERY ballsy, especially his outside pass on Kovalainen which put him right over the bump coming out the tunnel.

Bummer he made that mistake in practice, and Alonso Webber fight would have been great to see.

Weber was a metronome....with a hammer on the end!

Schumacher could do nothing about Alonso for more than half the race, him taking the position like that was fully NOT deserved although I think correct action would have been to just put him back to 7th........HE WAS SEVENTH! ....SEVENTH

Monaco is an atypical track though.

While the back markers didn't all move off line (they don't have to when fighting for position), I'm not quite sure how this translates into an incredible drive.

Seriously, is it really that awesome that FA was able to pull off passes on the likes of Lotus and HRT?

The real brilliance of Alonso's day came down to the early tire change, IMHO.

Any time anyone goes from last to points in monaco it's an incredible drive...

Thank god for Alonso and the safety car otherwise the race would have really been a snoozer!

How about those Mclaren boys though, leaving a radiator cover in place ?

LOL is right. the only way he would have stopped Alonso with that move was to park his car across the track. he gave him the line which he gladly took. he knew he was beat.

And yes, I'll go anywhere for a pass. Just watch my video trying to pass Fred on the outside of the toe at the Glen (didn't exactly work out well though )
