Sean , he gave Alonso the outside line , he had to go around him for the pass....

Seriously, is it really that awesome that FA was able to pull off passes on the likes of Lotus and HRT?

The real brilliance of Alonso's day came down to the early tire change, IMHO.
Ohh i thought it was coming from dead last to pass schumacher ....

It 's betting time now ray , anti-up , i miss collecting your package from the UPS guy ...

As for Schumi, I think that the fair move would be to move him back one spot to 7th not a 20 second penalty.

^ I agree.

However, Damon Hill was the driver's rep with the stewards. Just saying!

20 sec when everyone is behind the Safety Car is very different from 20 sec at the end of a green race

Alonso whined and Hill obliged. Rule 40.14 "You are not allowed to overtake a red car." Schumacher doesn't drive a red car anymore so he must have forgotten about that rule...

Regardless of whether the appeal would stand or not, that in my mind was the best part of the race. Schumacher is still as vicious on the track as he's always been. Loved it, loved it, loved it!

Hey, why did Race Control have the green flags out after the safety car pitted? Just sayin... Oh, and why did everybody gunned it, including our Primadonna, but her tires just spun...

Another ad hominem fail attempt. You're getting more and more boring by the minute.

I gotta admit, if the lights go green, there's no time to read the sporting reg's; it's a GO.

Having said that, I still wish Schummie stayed retired, he's only ruining his rep....

MJ,

Getting back to your comment about Alonso being the perfect team player right now and giving him a chance as he appears to have changed, sorry, but I just don't agree with this assessment when it comes to Alonso.

You are correct that so far, he has said everything right, but we're only 6 races into a 3 year contract.

If you look into his history, he was a malcontent at his first stint with Renault, he was a disaster at McLaren and on the verge of being involved in a criminal conspiracy when he went back to Renault. I don't know if there was anything to say about him when he drove for Minardi, but as a life long Ferrari fan, I'm waiting for the hammer to drop from Alonso. I don't feel safe or happy with him around the team.

How do figure? After a 3 year retirement, serious neck injury, it took him to only race #5 to beat his teammate and in the 6th race he was in front of his teammate as well and was told by his boss, Ross Brawn that he should overtake Alonso after the safety car went in.

Schumacher was following orders from the pitwall on what they interpreted to be the rules. MS was not a loose cannon and decided to just pass.

IF MS put in the type of performance of Luca Badoer, then I can see how his rep might be affected.

Exacly, green means GO! Everybody on the track knew that.

I dunno, having Schumacher there definitely adds to the excitement. It would've been a fun season without him, but the extra coverage, all the conspiracy theories, etc. are an added bonus. I'm loving it!

Funny thing also that where he passed Alonso is only a few feet from where he parked his car for Alonso in Q3 a few years ago

I just don't know what he's trying to prove, having broken every existing record already. He has nowhere to go but down from here, surely there are other outlets for his sporting desires. I'd hate to see him fall from grace after achieving such a distinguised career, and that's what he's now doing.
Also, let's not forget that the racing was better immediately upon his departure....

Bernie Madoff had a distinguishing career for years ... then came the truth...
