Hamilton doesn't want 'tainted' image like Schumi

Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he would be 'devastated' were his reputation to be 'tainted' like that of record-breaking multiple F1 World Champion Michael Schumacher – as the McLaren-Mercedes star insisted he wants to go down in grand prix history as a 'fair and clean' competitor who 'always drove with his heart'.

Schumacher has arrived in Monaco this weekend to a barrage of questions about his infamous 'parking' indiscretion at Rascasse during qualifying the last time he competed there back in 2006 [see separate story – click here] – one of a number of incidents that has somewhat tarnished the German legend's global image and legacy, for all of the outstanding brilliance that yielded him an unparalleled seven world titles at the highest level.

Hamilton is saying that Schumacher is a scum bag .... He's right ..

Try as you might, you would be hard pressed to find those that think that way about Senna and i would be willing to wager most F1 drivers have Senna as their Hero as opposed to Schumacher, who IMO will be correctly placed (historically) after this year is out ..

Hamilton making claims to fairness and sportsmanship? ****. Probably already too late to save his rep. We have all seen his antics many times in his short career.

OMG! Doesn't he know people who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

The only issue I have is that race/corner marshals waived the green flag and the green light was displayed around the track. It's a bit confusing, but I guess it's the driver/team's responsibility to know the rules prior to that.
If it was clear as you and Petu say, I don't think Ross Brawn or the other F1 teams that were reported to have been given the same order as MS and Nico to race once the safety car was in, that the FIA would be giving the following statement:

Following Michael Schumacher's penalty after Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix, Formula 1 governing body the FIA has admitted that last-lap Safety Car rules possess 'a lack of clarity' and that adjustments to the regulations are necessary.

7-time World Champion Schumacher was handed a 20-second penalty after the Mercedes driver was judged to have contravened Safety Car rules in Monte-Carlo and the F1 Sporting Working Group will now submit an amendment to the Sporting Regulations, which will subsequently be considered by the FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) next month.

The issue surrounds the fact that green flags and lights were displayed around the circuit after the Safety Car pulled in on the final lap, indicating full racing conditions. However, the rules state that no overtaking is allowed if the Safety Car has been in use on the last lap.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These yellow flags were replaced with green flags on the final lap
The FIA now admits that the rule in question must be amended.

'The problems identified during the final lap of the Monaco Grand Prix, counting for the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship, showed a lack of clarity in the application of the rule prohibiting overtaking behind the Safety Car,' reads a Thursday morning statement from the FIA.
'Adjustments to the regulations are necessary to clarify the procedure that cars must meet when the last lap is controlled by the Safety Car whilst also ensuring that the signaling for teams and drivers is made more clear.

These adjustments will help to avoid the problem which occurred during the Monaco Grand Prix from happening in the future.

The Formula One Commission, upon a proposal of the F1 Sporting Working Group will submit an amendment to the Sporting Regulations to address this issue. These amendments will be considered by the World Motor Sport

+ 1

Hamilton must of forgot the incident just last year when he lied to the race stewarts and threw Jarno Trulli under the bus when he overtook him and got Trulli penalized. It wasn't until the radio transmissions came to light that he told the truth and Trulli was exonerated. Talk about a scum bag. I'm not buying any of Hamilton or Alonso's PR bull**** anymore.

Hamilton should worry about his current teammate who has 2 wins to 0 over him right now and was 1st in the WDC up until his engine blew last week instead of worrying about someone elses reputation, because if Button beats Hamilton straight up in a team that is considered "Hamilton's team", his rep will suffer more than anything else.

This is to say nothing of the fact that he did not relinquish position as ordered by Ron Dennis to his then teammate Alonso at Hungury the year before causing the entire blow up in McLaren.

There is your Dynamic Duo for this era: Alonso and Hamilton both at the evil empire at the same time. Only those 2 under the direction of Ron Dennis could throw away a WDC and WCC at the same time. Dumb asses..
