And now the testing is more about sim correlation than actual running.

Alonso and Russell both complained about just 3 days of testing allowed; so 1 1/2 days per driver. This really is pathetic, regardless of how incredibly realistic and accurate the simulators may be today.

Agree, unfortunately, it's been like this for years. I understand the goal of reducing costs and testing is a way to do that but even amateurs have more test and tune days prior to the start of the race season. If I were F1 Czar, I'd allow teams to do in season testing at the conclusion of a race weekend where there's 2-4 weeks before the next test so it eliminates additional travel and transport of equipment. MotoGP does it all the time and seems to work just fine.

I agree the lack of testing is nuts. Having more tests after a weekend is a great way to reduce some costs and still allow the testing.

Edit: should have read at the conclusion of a race weekend when the next race, not test, is 2-4 weeks away.

They could easily bring two cars if the rules allowed. Since the season starts in only a few weeks its not like they don't have the cars ready. Testing is only about tweaks, as Mercedes found out a few years ago, when they made a mistake on their pod design. There is no going back - the test only confirms you F-ed up!

Yes, if you know what to look for and read the reports of the good on-site analysts that detail fuel loads and track conditions when the cars do qualifying sim runs a rough pecking order can usually be seen.

Let’s hope for Horner that these are false allegations , athough if those text messages are true he’s in major trouble !

Cheers
Phil

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: The independent investigation into Christian Horner has taken a significant turn.

- A new evidence has emerged regarding accusations of sexually inappropriate behavior by a female employee.

- Text messages obtained by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reveal alleged misconduct, including the regular sending of sexually explicit messages by Horner over an extended period.

- Efforts to conceal these allegations were apparent, as Horner's legal team offered a £650,000 (€760,000) settlement just before the issue came to light in February 2024.

- This development has sent shockwaves through the Formula 1 community, shedding light on a serious issue within one of the sport's leading teams.

Taking these glimpses of facts and innuendo at face value, if the allegations are true there would be every incentive for this women to make her claim "official" in a bid to get more money/justice.

My prediction is that she goes away with a larger amount of money, Horner issues some kind of half-baked mea culpa, and life goes on. In a few years, when most of the money is spent and she doesn't fear the NDA as much, she will go on the talk show circuit, or grant an exclusive interview, and we will learn her side of the story.

The RB20 has vertical inlets for the radiators like the MB had then abandoned. It also has similar bulging humps down the engine cover like MB debuted mid year in 2023. I wonder what Sir Adrian figured out. If he made the design work, Toto's head will explode. I am guessing the RB is going to pick up where the RB19 left off.

What I find interesting is that Toto has said they have traced their car flaw back to a single decision, but they won't disclose it unless so that if someone else ends up there, they might make the same (wrong) decision. It would be interesting if RB made that decision! Though I highly doubt they messed up that bad.
