Here is the bright line test - if it was an inappropriate sexual relationship or advances I can see him having to leave in this day and age. If he was just "mean" than that's ridiculous - he gets some counseling and says "I need to do better" and goes on his way.
What I don't understand is why the Verstappen team wants him gone, as has been reported?!
Whatever it is, I wouldn't be surprised if Jos was at the root of it, everything I've seen/heard about him points to him being the prototype **** including allegations of physical abuse.
To be honest, I think it has to be something like sexual harassment, otherwise it would have blown over already. Just because he is married to Ginger Spice doesn't mean he isn't looking for a little something on the side.
The factual accounts of what happen are probably in dispute and Horner has enough clout to fight and keep his job.

I also strongly believe the elder Verstappen is deep in the muck of this, what with a lot of the early news apparently coming from the Dutch press. He seems to be a malignant character given his history, and I can see his ego believing that no-one can run ‘his Son’s team’ better than he. Throw in Marko being pissed that Horner wanted him out of the pits and maybe(?) had his pay cut, and perhaps having the ear of RB corporate, and settle in for fireworks.
I have to agree with Bishman on the elder Verstappen being a nuisance and a hypocritical **** … i still remember his face that was shown on national tv when Checo outclassed little Max in one of the races. He seems to be trying to relive his failed career through his son.
As far as him being behind the Horner issue , he should be happy that Horner and Marko seem to idolize his son and give him all the attention as compared to all the other #2 drivers who went through the Red Bull grinder …

This is what I don't understand if Jos is behind any of this, or even supports it. RB has been the Max Verstappen team for years now. He could not have more clearly been the number one driver nor have received more support. In what way could he be dissatisfied or think he could do better? It is almost hard to believe but for the reports of his nature and character.
We don't know all the details and if this is just a ruse to consolidate power, but what I do know is that they (RBR) have a very good thing going and should be odds on favorites to win the next 2 WDC and WCC. Screwing with the chemistry of the synergy all the aforementioned parties bring to the table would be very "Ferrariesque" indeed.
I recall watching a race a while back, don't remember which one (might be the one wildcat077 was referring to), where Checo was leading.....no team orders were given for him to let Max through and the cameras caught Jos losing his mind in the garage even though IIRC Max was close to clinching the WDC. I think Jos had something (negative) to say about the team afterwards too. Just one example.....
Maybe Jos is just as much of an a$$ as he appears to be?
He does seem to be borderline psychotic, and I mean that seriously. Who knows what he would do.
He def has a history. From Wikipedia:
After a 1998 incident at a karting track in which a man suffered a fractured skull, Verstappen and his father, Frans, were found guilty in court of assault but were each given a five-year suspended jail sentence after reaching an out-of-court settlement with the victim.[34]
In December 2008, with the couple effectively separated, Verstappen appeared in court in Tongeren, Belgium, charged with assaulting his wife, Sophie Kumpen.[35] He was found not guilty of assault, but guilty of threatening Kumpen in text messages and of violating a previously issued restraining order. He was fined and sentenced to three months probational, suspended prison sentence.[36]
On 29 November 2011, the media reported allegations that Verstappen had assaulted his ex-girlfriend; Verstappen claimed to only have had a discussion with her.[37] In January 2012, he was arrested on attempted murder charges following accusations that he drove a car into his ex-girlfriend in Roermond,[38] but released two weeks later after the charge was withdrawn.[39] Verstappen and his ex-girlfriend, Kelly van der Waal, got back together and were married in 2014. They have one daughter, Blue Jaye, born in September 2014.[40] They divorced on 2 June 2017.
I'm surprised Max is so close with him after all that. Sounds like a total nutjob. Definite speculation that Jos was involved somehow on the release of the accusation.
He sounds like a whack job. But would be be nuts enough to blow up Red Bull? If Horner goes, then Newey would surely follow. Then Lawrence writes two huge checks and Aston Marting wins the 2025 WCC with Fernando winning his 3rd WDC.
Or Mercedes writes two huge checks, and George wins the WDC in 2025.
