The bottom is used as the primary, until you put one in the side (for temporary use, like students or ride and drive). Then, the side one takes sole priority over the bottom one.
I cant recommend super large cards. As a matter of fact, I see more issues with supplemental and large cards on this device than most other issues on this device.
A bad sector in a super large one can cause video and data corruption. The 32 GB card included will record over seven hours. Buy the best quality you can afford. Class 10. Sandisk is good. A lot of counterfeit cards out there.
Generally, only the video is recorded to the card (the device treats the card(s) like external drives), as well as the rendered video with the data overlay that you can tell the device to render after the session. The data is in the tablet.
FYI Ive had no issues with SanDisk Ultra 128Gb cards in either slot (to date)
Anyone using a screen protector they would recommend?
Also, the website indicates the primary memory slot(under removable lower panel) capacity is 256GB and the manual calls the side memory slot Auxiliary but I can't find how they are used together and what the auxiliary slot capacity is.
Can anyone explain how they work together? If using both which one can be used to transfer the data to a laptop?
does that not interfere with the touch sensitive screen?
just sharing information; not trying to (dis)prove anything or "correct" any misinformation so no need to be snarky
Sorry. Didn’t mean anything by my response. Snark’s reserved for only a tiny number of people, you’re not one of them. Edited the post.

No screen overlay I've used on a phone or my children's tablet devices has affect that feature. So far at least. But also why I was looking for a recommendation, to be sure it did not.
So far so good with the Catalyst but for the love of god they need to improve their contact methods.
The contact support feature makes NO attempt to allow you to actually contact anyone. It places you where they think you should be.

this is great info to have, which brings me to a suggestion. Is there a way we could have just a tech thread? I find myself having a hard time sifting though this thread that is filled with info, but sometimes hard to find in the 66 pages that it is..? I’m sure I’ll be at the track looking for something on my phone in this thread in the very near future.. like.. what kind of headphone jack? Looks like 1/8 stereo? Mono? Thinking I can just connect it to my harness that plugs into my radio, and into my headset.. maybe already covered? And once I start really using it a tech thread would be handy.. FWIW..

I agree. When people get through, they get help quickly, but it is a barrier. I’ve been suggesting garminpitcrew<at>Garmin.com also.
I see issues with larger than 128 GB. Can’t recommend larger than 32 or 64 GB. Just my experience.
Peter, are you seeing problems specifically with the Catalyst or is this just a general observation? I am using 256GB, which is the max size Garmin says they support, with no problems so far - although that be overkill, if Garmin say they support it, why not keep a more extensive set of data on the device?
