Hey all .. been in talks about getting PIWIS III to do some work with my Panamera GTS, as well as hopefully future p-cars...
Will have a T470 laptop on the way today... but I also read about power supply needs.... can someone confirm that this would be the right thing? https://www.ebay.com/itm/39364023622...emis&media=SMS
think I read to buy something like that, then cut one end off of some jumper cables, hook up, and done... yes?
I noticed the output is 12.0V - I believe it's suggested to have 12.5V output or higher, up to 14.0V.
Not saying it won't work, but has anyone had issues with a power supply with a max of 12.0V?

Yes, my older 12 volt charger would not keep the voltage high enough to produce the battery checkmark in PIWIS, and my car would only show maximum 12.1v on the cluster display, so I purchased a new 12v 20 amp charger with AGM setting which charges AGM batteries at a higher voltage (~14v) This charger keeps my battery between 13.2v - 13.6v ignition on and connected to PIWIS. However I have a Boxster GTS 4.0 not a Panamera, so YMMV.
Oh yep, I see that now - I pulled up the manual from the manufacturers site and it has 3 stage (default) of 13.2V, 13.6V and 14.6V or fixed mode adjustable charging. That's a great feature and a really good deal, think I'll pick one up myself here soon, I've been looking.
Already in the 997 generation, which has nowhere near the amount of accessories and modules as the newer cars, the mandated current was 40 AMPs. Anyone using less, and a battery charger that is not a fixed constant clean power source is asking for a disaster.
Shop on sites for RV, CB radio, camping and compare prices on the model that suits your car model's needs. For me, 55 Amp was perfect, newer ones 75 or 100 Amps-
Another win for @rnlst_log --great communication and support. My interface showed up in about 2 days from CA via USPS --very surprised! Using a tablet as a second (touch screen) monitor.
100 Amp power supply
looks very good! @Chimuel can you share link for the power supply?
Thanks in advanced
