Good points John. Does the obdeleven accept the new long data labels?
I've got one slot left on my VAG-COM of the 5 I bought the license for, so unless I need to get more vehicles I'd like to not have to learn yet another architecture. Yes, Lambo, VDub, Bentley, Skoda etc. all work - didn't know BMW was also on the list but since I'm not into them ... but nice to know.
As @rainer mentioned given it's not available on a tablet yet, the smaller the better while keeping in mind being able to actually see the screen. As I mentioned my Lenovo is great but that's all it will ever be used for. As for pre-M1s, yes I have 3 Santa Rosa flavor MBP for just those eventualities.

>>As for VMware mechine, it will works on windows as long as it has the same vhardware version.
If it was build on V mware 17 on the mac, it must be played using same vmware version on windows.
I'm not even sure how I would bring in my running Piwis VMs into a Windows laptop, but I'll look into it, thanks for all the replies-
Since the laptop is being looked at to see if it can be repaired, I can't recall exactly which version of Fusion it has, it was limited to the OSX High Sierra and it couldn't go beyond that OS-I believe it was Fusion 11.5, and the VM 16 or something-
But if I can import the PIWIS VM into a Lenovo, it's something to consider. Quite a mess![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Thanks again,
JB

Hey JB911-
I'm looking at getting a PIWIS clone and looking for vendor recommendations.
It's for my 2008 Cayenne S, but I may get a newer Porsche in the future.
I've gone through this thread and a couple others, and I'm more baffled and confused.
It seems like you've done a TON of research on the subject, so what did you end up getting and from what vendor?
PIWIS II or PIWIS III?
Thanks
Phil

Right here on the list, contact or PM rnlst_log, there are different PIWIS III versions/options on the best one to suit you-as discussed previously above, those are some laptop options. You need the VCI too, from eBay or Alibaba, firmware 1.6.6
Best,
JB

Well, I just got Parallels on my M1 Mac, and now running Windows 11. I think I read that some PIWIS versions are available running on Windows 10, so if PIWIS can run on Windows 11, maybe then I could install it(?)

Since Piwis is now available in Windows 10 and 11, and my new Parallels setup is running Windows 11 faster than most Windows laptops, I wonder if I could instal a Piwis version right in Windows, or a newly created Virtual version specifically for Parallels 18-
These newly created Windows 10 and 11 versions of Piwis are quite expensive since they are the latest software versions of Piwis, which I really don't need since my car is a 997.2 GT3.
For me, the cost/benefit now is buying yet another laptop, Windows or 15" Intel Mac(without the self combusting logic board), or finding a solution to use this M1 Silicon Mac with Parallels which will not run my old Piwis VMs![Cool](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)

And come to think of it, when I ran Durametric on my smoked Intel MacBook before I got the Piwis VMs, the process in that case was quite simple-open Windows 7 or 10 in VMWare Fusion, go to their site, download the Durametric software and install-
And it looks like Parallels won the battle against Fusion VMWare, at least for now-
And since this thread has become the major source for information on rennlist, it would be nice to list the best Piwis versions for which cars-it's understood that some have engineering/ development, others don't(what dealers would have spent money on the official setup and not get the full versions?) 992 owners for instance would need a different version than 991 and 997 ones, and the Panamera, Macan, Cayenne and other models are also subject to different generations and versions-
From memory, 37.250.20 was a great version for people with older cars- I was on Garageforum.org for quite sometime last night, and today the site can't even be reached for some reason-the site is down for some reason.
Here's a site showing similar websites as garageforum, I'll look at them out of curiosity:
https://www.similarweb.com/website/g...g/competitors/
As some may have seen, mhhauto has heated insane discussions with theft accusations, it's nuts
Best,
JB

Notes for all versions:
- In engineer mode, the block names are in German.
- Enabling additional functions and obtaining a programming code if dealer access is available.
- The AirBag is readable only when the ignition is off.
- Americans with shot pads don't count. And you cannot erase the crash date, only at the dealer.
- PPN does not work with VAS6154
- No version does not guarantee full coverage of all blocks for old cars as in PIWS 1. Therefore, for full support, you must use PIWIS 2 and Samtec VCI.
- All Piwis versions with VAS6154 clone cannot encode the headlights due to the lack of baud rate of the VAS6154
- Piwis 3 will work with VAS6154 clone with firmware 1.6.6.0, Porsche original tool or AllScanner tool.

Hey rnlst_log , just reaching out about a PIWIS 3 setup. Tried to DM you but apparently my account is too new <- however I think you can message me.
Apologies if Im going about this wrong, my brain feels fried from reading countless pages on diagnostic tools.

It is quite a bit of reading, and options depending on which car you have and what you need-that's why I posted the versions above-
I'm also deciding which option to take-
