If it works for you, you shouldn't.

Have tried this with two different sets of lights as well as 2 different PIWIS versions and same result.
MCR data not found - this means that the data set (parametry) required for this block is missing, this usually happens on SD versions of software, this is any software with the end of 000, for example 41.500.000, they simply do not have an online database of files from the Porsche server, even if these files are copied from another version of the full version, it will not work because there are no files that describe configurations for automatic programming and coding

Would anyone be kind enough to help guide me? I am stuck at mounting the tib file with arconis and can't seem to know how to boot my computer from the unpacked .tib partitions.
Or would I need an external SSD and unpack the .tib file onto that then go into bios mode to force boot from the external SSD?
By the way how do I permanently unpack the .tib files to make a bootable external SSD?

Thanks

Total cost: around $50 for the VCI from AliExpress
  1. I got a 4-5 year old Lenovo T470 from a friend of mine, it had a large enough SSD, 1080p display (many people have unused old laptops with 1080p display just sitting somewhere. If not, the one I has can easily be found on eBay for less than $100)
  2. Got one of the Windows 8 PIWIS that is floating around the internet. I used google - anyone can do that. I didn't pay a penny for any of the forums that force you to get a paid subscription to get the download link (search for "40.400 Win 8.1_64 Pbk_full_b1_s1_v1.tib")
  3. Load the image you downloaded to the SSD using either Acronis or EaseUS - the free versions of both of those software will work
  4. You probably need to make sure your laptop is set to BIOS and not UEFI
  5. Follow the popular tutorial on how to use the keygen. For me, it is the first result when searching "piwis keygen" - very simple, explained step by step
  6. Use your AliExpress VCI ( https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32568...andl_shipto=US )
  7. That's it, basically

My take is that someone that feels comfortable enough programming their (potentially) several hundred thousand dollars car should feel comfortable enough doing the above steps and using Google

I would also like to thank @Treurentner, who shared great information both in this thread and on other forums.

Hey all, does know how to use my own car files in simulation mode? what I mean is that I want to be able to browse the coding options of my very own car that I programmed before, and not the generic one that is available (not 982 Boxster but specifically a 982 Spyder, in that case)

OK - A couple of updates for you guys.

Firstly, the TabScan T6PT3G is worth its weight in gold, stop fudging with the cheap VAS clones and go pick up one of these. It is 100x quicker than the clones, and if you are running PIWIS native (not in VMWARE) everything happens super quickly. I pulled the entire VAL in less than 4 minutes. Massive upgrade from a usability POV.

Secondly, I picked up a 600w 13.8v power supply to meet the power requirements for coding. Much greater peace of mind vs. using a CTEK trickle charger. Power cord and alligator clamps (and a handy LED meter) can be sourced on Amazon as needed. Yes, the power supply is cheap, but power is power. Add an inline fuse if you are nervous about it. You can also monitor current voltage in the OBC.

I connected everything to my garage computer via the handy USB connector. Installed the software/drivers (online download) and everything was good to go. I also use a 10-foot OBDII extension cable on the end of the T6PT3G to make direct wiring easy (the WiFi works too, but I trust wires more).

The aggregate result of all of this effort is that my headlights are now successfully coded and commissioned, something that the VAS was simply unable to do! So net/net, I was able to buy the T6PT3G for what I likely would have paid Porsche to do it for me, and now I get to keep it too. Win/win.

Those 12V leads are woefully undersized, I would strongly encourage you to use thicker copper wire

(you can also connect the same wire to multiple terminals to reduce contact resistance in the scenario where you have fat wire / small connector)

Nice, But a laptop is safer....during a power outtage.....if you were critical coding.

Could maybe add a UPS as an option.

The CTEK is a trickle charger and should NEVER be used when coding as it can't supply the potential current required. OTOH you should never use your PowerMax or other to replace a trickle charger.
As my father in law used to say "the right tool for the right job".

I was referring to OP's comment that he got a power charger for peace of mind when coding rather than use the CTEK.

Some people charge for that file, not my case. Having it will only take you half way. Without knowledge of how to crack the software (check connection, etc) it would be useless. My advice is to contact a well known installer such as Mars (look for him in this forum) and hire him for support. Nonetheless.. good luck.

I was able to find instructions on how to use the keygen, just that links for downloading are no long there. I already downloaded and installed the actual Piwis 3 on my laptop and got a cloned VCI.
