Hello, the VNCI PT3G is probably a scam.
The seller told me he will ship the package on September 27th.
Then early October he told me the product is testing. But can ship it on the next Monday.
I asked to get pictures of the product and he only send 1 picture from his website which is a product mockup ...
I really doubt this product exist.
Anyway, after 1 month of waiting, I made a PayPal claim and got a refund, now I will get the T6PT3G

Experience comes from bad judgement, good you got your money back. Scout the Forums for reliable feedback from users on products.

Seems, according to the website, that the product is no longer available.

I opened my VAS6154 up and confirmed it has a WIFI capability(I noticed there is a wifi network running when I plug the unit in to the car)
I haven't started to look into whether I can access PIWIS over wifi, but has anyone already walked down this road? I'm curious if it would be any faster an interface than the USB connection, and just the convenience would be handy as well to walk the laptop around instead of being tied to the car.
Thanks

I run mine using WIFI, and I have fast internet 1GB ATT plan. If it's faster or slower than USB, that I don't know-but my previous VAS didn't have wifi and the cable right next to my foot was certainly irritating. While looking at the laptop you can end up bumping into the cable, and a friend of mine did get careless and stepped on the cable while scanning his car 🤦♂️
So as far as I know, as long as nothing interferes with it, wifi is great. I think Siberian said it was faster in some of his posts.
And at a car show someone was talking about the new VCI and how great it is but I didn't get enough details on which one he was talking about.
And since this is the busiest thread on PIWIS, with most users and information, a list of current new VCIs would be nice to have to compare. I'm happy with the VAS, prices seem to have gone way down too. I have a friend running PIWIS on an Intel Mac, with VMWare , VAS and wifi and it seems to be going well for him.
rnlst_log tried installing PIWIS on my Silicon/ARM MacBook Pro, and we couldn't get the drivers to work and communicate with the VAS. But that was many months ago, and Windows 11 ARM has had a lot of upgrades, so perhaps it might be time to see if it would now be possible to install again and make it work. The reason would be to finally get it to work after so much time and effort trying to get it going-so I might look into it again. I ended up getting a LeNovo setup dedicated just for PIWIS, but my MacBook Pro M1 is so fast I'd really like to have PIWIS on it-

Piwis 3 in laptops is comprised of 3 parts (at least on windows)
1. Piwis: Porsche diagnostics software
2. Actia Tester; Routine that checks connection between dongle and laptop.
3. VAS Driver: Controller for the dongle.
If wifi doesnt work, you can try to change the setup in the VAS driver. Normally is set to automatic, so it recognizes whether you are connected using USB or wifi. You can check if it is set to USB, in that case, wifi would work unless you change the settings.
It doesnt matter you wifi connection speed, since the communication is done via the wifi modem of your home/house. Data doesnt go out to the cyberspace or to another server, so internet connection speed is not indicative of how fast the connection can be.
What DO determine you connection speed is how clean is your piwis copy and you laptop capabilities. For instance, I initially had Piwis in a Lenovo Carbon X1 Gen 4 with 8GB ram and a i5 processor... it was damn slow... later I change to a Getac G6 i9 with 16GB and it is blazing fast (using USB all the time).
Hope it helps.

In case this helps other forum members who can't get Guided Fault Finding to work properly on free to download versions of PIWIS due to the error:
Error: IAS Search failed: Unable to connect to the remote server
I managed to fix this as follows:
1/ Make a Snapshot of your VM (most important, so you can restore everything if anything goes wrong)
2/ Make sure you have at least 2 cores (or processors) allocated to the VM.
This is important or step 4 will mean Java hogs 100% CPU and makes VM unusable.
3/ You must have a network interface enabled for the next step, consider now if you want to isolate your VM from the Internet.
If you do for safety then configure your VM settings so Network adapter is restricted to HOST ONLY MODE.
If you are happy for your VM to have Internet access then can leave as NAT.
Now in File Explorer->Right Click/Properties-> Change adapter settings-> Right click on Ethernet0 interface->Enable
4/ Reboot VM and retry Guided Fault Finding, , hopefully it is now working but if it only lets you choose a vehicle model but does NOT let you choose the Control Unit, Variant and Fault code then you will need to also do steps 5 onwards
****
5/ Only do the following steps if necessary, see Step 4. If so, close and exit PIWIS.
6/ Double check that you took a VM snapshot backup in step 1 otherwise there is no going back if the next step fails.
7/ In File Explorer check that the directory D:\PiwisApps\GFS\data\publication\export is populated with some folders that contain files.
8/ If so then open CMD window CD to D:\PiwisApps\GFS\IAS, then rebuild the database index by running the script import-index.bat and leave it to run... it sticks at one point at one of the CREATE SYMPTOM SEARCH HISTORY commands and takes a LONG LONG time.
Go and make yourself a drink and come back in 30-60 minutes, hopefully it will finish without any errors (a couple of small warnings is normal I think).
9/ Retry PIWIS and see if Guided Fault Finding is now fixed, for me it was! If it has messed anything up then revert to earlier snapshot, nothing lost![Wink](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
WARNING: I HAVE BRIEFLY TESTED OTHER FUNCTIONS OF PIWIS AND NOTHING APPEARS TO BE BROKEN AFTER THIS FIX, HOWEVER I HAVE NOT EXTENSIVELY TESTED TO ENSURE PROGRAMMING OR OTHER FEATURES ARE NOT ADVERSELY AFFECTED. IT WOULD SEEM UNLIKELY AS I BELIEVE GFF IS SEPERATE TO THE PIDT DIAGNOSTICS MODULE, HOWEVER UNTIL SOMEONE ELSE HAS FULLY CONFIRMED I RECOMMEND YOU PLAY IT SAFE AND SWITCH BETWEEN TWO SNAPSHOTS; I.E. ONE UNTOUCHED FOR PROGRAMMING AND ONE THAT HAS THESE GFF FIXES APPLIED WHEN NEEDED.
Thanks to rennlist user: Treurentner for pointing out the Empolis administrator guides that allowed me to work it out.

@rnlst_log is your guy he is a member here. I send him my laptop and he hooked me up with both software and hardware for what I thought for very reasonable cost. Turnaround time was 24 hours minus shipping time. Few weeks down the road I managed to corrupt the software and crashed it. He remotely logged in and fixed it with in minutes of me texting him for help. Also, for the record I don’t know the gentleman he lives other side of the county nothing but great work.
