I am just laughing because dude is getting all worked up and throwing GDs around and I am just joking around.

Candidly, no. Don't like much about it and don't want one. I see real potential here, but sadly the lines and features look like what Hyundai would do when trying to build a cheap knock off a new NSX which was also disappointing to me.

As far as great job performance wise, I'll get some seat time in them soon enough up at NCN Motorsports Park. My expectations are pretty low as I don't like understeer and a friend of mine that owns 4 Chevy dealerships with whom I used to race was not very enthusiastic after spending some time on the track in one. He said the buzz was that the engine is down in power and performance from what factory is touting.

I just can’t get over the design of the C8. It’s busy and clunky looking to me. It’s really too bad too, because I was excited that they switched to mid engine and thought it could have been really something special. But to me it’s just not.

I’ll be curious to see what they do with the Z06 and ZR1. Maybe the performance will be good enough to make me look past the aesthetics.

For now, I’m extremely happy with my GT3RS and will probably always have one in the garage. It really does everything for me and I’m very much looking forward to the 992 version.

That's the weirdest thing to me - talk of a mid-engine Corvette has been a thing for so long. I thought...KNEW...that when the mid-engined Corvette FINALLY materialized, it would be a really gorgeous, special car. Really disappointing that this may be the highest performing, but yet the most unaesthetic Corvette to date. Really big opportunity for an iconic car missed.

I am on my 7th 997 model and had 5 996 models and never noticed the inability to see the outer gauges until I read that on these threads because frankly it never mattered and still does not matter. In fact, had not thought about it again until I just saw this picture.

The complaints here must just be a function of a new breed of Porsche 911 owners because I cannot ever recall such a discussion on here in the 17 or 18 years I have been on here . . . joined here prior to 2003, but forgot my original log in.

When left with very little to really complain about there is always a group that finds the really small stuff to bit$h about.

The way I interpreted your comment was that the fact that the car is American should somehow make it more attractive as a purchase. In rereading, perhaps that's not the case - I suppose "proudly American" could be construed as either a positive or negative, in which case it wouldn't be nationalism.

Either way, I apologize for taking this thread off track and don't mean to make it political/philosophical discussion since those rarely end up well on the internet. I think we actually agree on the overall picture, this was just a matter of semantics.
I know that this is a car and not political forum, but your statement cries out for a response. The US is currently in an economic war with China, and China is winning. The nationalistic definition which you find offensive is precisely the one which China embraces. There's an excellent book "The Shadow War" by Jim Sciutto which I highly recommend. Sciutto views the nationalism around the globe as a deadly game of winners and losers, with few shades of grey. His dire warning is that the US is in danger of being quickly overtaken by a ruthless China, which almost never plays the game fairly.

You nailed it. The design is very busy and has that "almost" did it look, like every other Corvette. It always seems that they design it in such a way, it can "almost" look like a super car, but Chevy makes sure to add the excessive lines and design cues, almost like Hyundai designed it. It is busy and in a few years, it's going to have a tired and dated look. The sharp angles and cuts kills it, along with the camaro lights in the rear, plus the cheap AutoZone looking exhaust tips. Overall, great performance car, but NOT for me. I do like the C7 GrandSport and Z06 very much, but again, Chevy has never done it for me. I'll take a Dodge over the other Americans any day.

Was trying to think of how to phrase a response to that post, but now I don't have to. Yes, perfectly stated.

I travel to Asia frequently. China and Vietnam at least 7 times annually. The statements above are very true and on point. China is a country that manipulates and controls everything not just their currency.
I am not a Vette fan at all nor do I care for the C8 by I do care about this country and what we have here and whenever I can I try to support it.

Kinda a "no brainer". Bang for the buck with quality, refinement, and mid-engine exotic looks. Can't really ask for more than that and its only going to get better at the "upgraded" models start coming out. Porsche, Ferrari, McLaren, Lambo etc...are you paying attention. GM just took you all to school!
