The 458 is the perfect supercar right now. It pulls hard as hell, and is all motor. I drove that car and a 488 on the track, I hated the 488. The turbo lag was horrible, but the rush was insane, once the turbos kicked in. 458 was surgical, and instant, and that noise, nothing better than a Ferrari engine.

The big displacement pushrod motors aren’t that inefficient for their power rating. In fact, they’re sometimes more efficient than turbo motors half their displacement. The 455 hp 6.2L Camaro SS is EPA rated at 27 MPG highway, while the 450 hp 3.0L turbo 992 Carrera S is EPA rated at 23 MPG highway. The big pushrod motor isn’t any heavier than the 3.0T Porsche motor either.
Small turbo motors’ main benefit over big NA pushrod motors is circumventing stupid displacement taxes in markets like China, Brazil, and parts of Europe.

If you guys aren't familiar with the Throttle House guys. They do an amazing job reviewing cars & always give an unbiased opinion. None of this "paid sponsorship" nonsense you see with other channels.
They definitely bring to light some of the troubling issues ongoing with the new C8. It looks like they still have some work to do over there at GM.
Besides the one MAJOR issue, I'll let you guys watch... Note that when your seats squeak, it's just called "sporting". Nothing to worry about it.

It'd be nice to see them do a 992 C2S at some point. They are in the Toronto area, maybe someone can lend them theirs for a review??

I’ve read these comparisons a lot over the years. The Vette always puts up impressive numbers.
But hot-**** driver to hot-**** driver, I’ve never seen one get around a track faster than a comparable 911.
This latest iteration is definitely onto something with the mid-engine design, but this comparison? I dunno... Seems like a song I’ve heard before.
Even with the straight-line stuff... Pilot Sport 4s VS P-Zeros is not a fair fight. The difference is at least .1 seconds if not .2 in 0-60 and the quarter. And that disparity will grow exponentially once you start big boy racing, and actually begin lapping them. The Michelins are fantastic tires. The Pirellis... Yeah. Not so much.
I won’t even comment on the design/interior/fit-and-finish stuff in the article. If the author believes that, he probably also thinks Coach competes with Hermès.

I saw a C8 parked on the road the other day as I was on my way to lunch. Did I stop? No. I will say it looked good, however, not good enough to stop. This article should have been against the more compatible GT4/Spyder.

Even with track alignment. Suffers from terminal understeer. 😳

Reviews haven't been favorable in the track handling area.
Seems like it'll take a couple of years to sort.

Thanks for posting that second video. That channel seems to be very underrated BTW - I like the amount of detail they provide.
Seems like the standard C8, even with the Z51 package, is more of a grand tourer. The continued commentary about superior ride quality makes me wonder whether the spring rates and damping are the primary issue. In my mind, that would mean it's more a Mclaren 570 than a 600LT. It looks Mclaren would provide a better track car from their road-focused product, but then again you're paying astronomically more. Perhaps the standard R8 is a good comparison of a mid-engine, but road focused car. Again, you're paying significantly more for the same type of experience.
I guess I'm just surprised that GM has decided to go this refined and soft. If they are targeting the bulk of their market, it makes me call into question my understanding of the typical Corvette owner.
