Thoughts on the new corvette?

No, I was an early Corvette fan (owned 3) but not anymore. The C8's styling looks very good but if it rides like the C7 Z06 and ZR1 I drove I won't even consider it. And, in true GM fashion the supply and demand market will quickly be saturated, they will soon be everywhere just like the C7 and, you'll quickly see them for sale at highly discounted prices. Within a year declining demand will slow the market for the base model Z51. Then, of course GM will introduce the Z06 followed by the TT or supercharged mega-hp ZR1 to pump-up sales while they continue working on the hybrid or electric C9. The C8 however could be the last of the piston gas-only Corvettes which could keep interest high. If I'm right, buy the last year C8 ZR1 and you'll be putting future collector money in the bank.

Very impressive numbers.
I’m excited to see the grand sport with a little more power and aero from the z06.
Way off the charts on the performance per dollar.

Buddies dad picked up a c7 Z06 manual carbon brakes everything car was very nice. Bought it for 118k had it a little less then two years sold it for 70K with about 10000 miles on it.
To lose 48k in less than two years blows my mind. Just wait and get the deal on the car instead of taking bath on it.

impressive, will kill Camaro ZL1 sales, after first year bugs an amazing car, has paddle neutral feature, so Porsche didnt patent the idea?

I think, as always, the Corvette is a lot of car for the money and each generation offers more and better of everything that makes a Corvette America's (not Germany's or Italy's) sports car. The C8 is a major departure from tradition, yet clearly is a Corvette. I've never met a Corvette interior that was up to European standards, but in a sense that's part of the formula as well Once the dust settles I plan to go and check it out for myself, but overall GM deserves a lot of credit for keeping the Corvette alive, well, and relevant.

I agree that it will affect Porsche, but only in 718 sales. Just my opinion, but I don’t feel 992 customers are cross shopping Corvettes.

Drifting
Stark contrast to the Carfection GT4 video with Andreas Preuninger where he kept dishing out information and research Porsche had done to improve the car.

I’m really impressed with it and am so happy to see this and the mustang bring massively fun great looking cars to the larger market and show how stupid you have to be to pay $250k adm for a speedster (yes I’m still angry abt speedsters lol)

You may want to wait for the 2021 C8 Z06 which will probably sticker in the mid $80Ks. With Corvettes it's prudent to delay purchase for about a year, so they can address the inevitable quality issues. So then you could have a choice between a sorted out 495 HP C8 or a 700 HP C8 Z06. The consensus guess is that the Z06 will have a curb weight of around 3650 which would result in 5.2 lbs/HP, which is mind boggling. If the rumors are correct, I'll be buying a C8 Z06 which I'll be using primarily for the track. Somehow the 718 GT4 with its 309 lb/ft of torque has lost some of its luster for me, especially when the arrogant dealers are requesting $10K+ ADMs..

I agree. It will affect any street/track car including the next 992 GT3. Something to be said about a new $70k, 500hp, mid-engine, DCT car under warranty that you can flog on the track, drive back home, then take it to a Chevy dealer for maintenance at Chevy parts/labor costs. Of course, the C8 must first prove that it’s up to the task. We shall see...

I can answer that question for a non sports car, but a sports car is primarily about emotion. Based on my experience, the vast majority of sports car owners never track their cars. So why would they pay $120K+ for a 911 or GT4, when it will be used only on the street? I suppose they could cite the braking and handling of a Porsche as providing an extra margin of safety, but bottom line it's primarily about emotion.
