Although it's not on the spec sheet yet, a MT is available on the 992, at least according to the sales manager at my local Porsche dealership. The curb weight of a 992 is in the range of 3340 - 3605. So I'm assuming that the 3340 is with a MT, but you could be right. It could be the weight with PDK.

Starting at under $60k, its amazing, in my opinion. They're gonna sell a few.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The first couple of years of production are probably going to have some significant issues. Like, really significant. But after seeing the finished product I'm going to give Chevy a really long leash before I hold it against them.

I'm glad the C8 is a bargain and I believe it will be a game changer. Even high-end manufacturers can't ignore the performance of the new Vette and it'll push them to hopefully offer more performance to keep up. Good job Chevrolet!

What I'm not willing to do is buy a first model year Chevy and put it on the racetrack. I doubt it will go smoothly, history shows that first years are often trouble with those brands. I sure hope they won't overheat like the C7 on track but I have my reserves, being mid-engine and all...

Granted that exhaust sound isn't a high priority for everyone, but for those that are interested, here is a clip of a C8R testing at Sebring. So nice to hear an exhaust without all that dam popping that is prevalent on so many cars:

I don't think true weight between 992 and c8 will make a difference in driving. 911 always better than vette in traction and transmission. now that should be even. leaving luxury as only difference.

All someone has to do is to search on Rennlist and you'll get hundreds of posters complaining about Porsche quality, especially starting with the 996, 986 to the present. I haven't followed the 718 much, but it seems to be relatively problem free.

also false because that C8 weight is a dry weight. Actual curb weight is estimated to be 3600 lbs.

Lovely & I bet it's absolutely awesome to drive!

Really wish they would have gone with plain round tail lights, instead of those squinty Camaro-looking ones. The side intake also could use more flowing curves and less choppy angles; IMHO that looks odd.
Also the center console is a bit too high, even though I love the cockpit feeling.

The old saying of "never buy the 1st year model, because they need to work the bugs out" is probably not as true as it used to be, but it will be interesting to see how Chevy further develops this one. Seems like within 3-4 years, they always tweek the styling and performance in some way.
Regardless, I think the new Corvette might be bumping an Alfa Romeo 4C off my wish list.

Yeah, yeah. I know. Analogies aren’t always perfect. But, it isn’t only an engine that can heat soak (brakes on the C8 look tiny...)

That is not the typical 16v 60° V8 sound. Something has ‘removed’ that typical sound. X-over exhaust or perhaps it’s a 180° V8. Something though...
