I was originally going to get a very well spec'd 718 Spyder (been on the list for three years now) . In order to do this jump I was going to get rid of my Ferrari to free up some money. Then when the C8 came out I realized I could add one of these to my line up for a marginal amount of money over the 718. This on top of the **** gearing and same torque that it retained from the 981 (owned one for two years and got board). I decided to try out the vett. With no more manuals being produced I started searching for a new Z06. Needless to say I am picking up my new Z today really excited never owned a vett before.

Biggest problem I think they have is the doors. The thickness of the doors is absurd by any reasonable standard. You have to open them all the way to get in and out, apparently, at which point you are hitting the side of the car parked 2 stalls away. Never mind the fact that garages in new homes have been shrinking for years. Wider was not called for here, but that's what was delivered by GM.

The C8 will require more shifting, given these supposed ratios. It appears that, based on this preliminary information, the Z51 could require a shift into third in order to make its 2.9-second 0-to-60 run—second gear will top out at 59 mph based on the numbers given. The base car should be able to make it to 60 mph without shifting into third as its final drive ratio allows it to get up to 62 mph in second gear. In any case, both of the 0-60-mph sprint times are quite impressive considering that they fall right in line with the C7 Z06’s 2.95-second time. That’s some serious progress.
Makes me wish GM would allow for more ala carte options in both electronics and hardware.

Take every one of those stats and subtract the YMMV variable (Your Milage May Vary).

C8 with Z51? "Standardized"?k
Believe the specs are pretty much out everywhere by now, including Tadge's notebook snapshots. Final tunning to take place. before the role of the line, but doubt if you put this much press into same facts around the car and especially not having it hit zero to sixty in or under 3.0 seconds and come out with a lessor performance car. Bet you can buy one for under sixty-one thousand and it does under three seconds, possibly 2.95 as reported. Sounds appealing for the price of entry, would wait for a second year. With this platform though, expect numerous higher-performance versions as we say down the road.

Only the Z51 will meet that performance stat of "0-60 in under three seconds".
Are you saying the Z51 will come in under $61K now?
It was $64K for the 1LT Z51 with nothing added.
I haven't heard anyone walking away for less than $70K'ish for a Z51 order.
Meh, who cares.
This nonsense has been going on for way too long.
Let an independent 3rd party drive the damn car and write an evaluation and review already!
Everything else has already been said.

How can you possibly claim that GM's claim is an exaggeration? Maybe it is, but how can anyone determine that at this time. Moreover, if the ZL1 auto is .001 sec faster or slower than a PDK, does anyone really care. The difference certainly won't be perceptible to any driver.

Fake News is the cry of the denier, whiner and hater. Maybe those too ignorant to seek out if it might be true or scared that it could be true?
