I don't think so. There were plenty of mid-engined 911s there though.

We're gettin' old, Gretch! Maybe it's not even a matter of "gettin'" anymore!
I'm getting old, too. But, I haven't given up. Just finalized my order today...C7 Z51 2LT manual...white/red stripes with red interior. Be here in 7-8 weeks

'Murica...hell yeah!

I am getting a C8 to add to my group of cars, I have owned C5. C6, & C7 corvettes and they have all been extensively modified. They have gotten better with each model, and yes after over 478 (including 43 Porsche's) cars NOTHIING right out of the box (meaning stock), even my Ferrari's are not stock. Yes the interiors are maybe not the greatest, but compared to a Ferrari or an AM (or an AMG GTS, or a heavily optioned S Class), neither is a Porsche. I like cars, I don't care what badge is on the (I've owned multiple Miata's and even a Kia Soul that one only to say I've got soul) hood as long as it serves a purpose I have for it. I think it is silly at this point to talk about a car no one has seen or driven, though if the order sheets I've are correct at least for now the only transmission is a DCT. I am only with that since 2 of the 4 Porsche's I own now are gearshift cars, so I am okay there. I have seen car snob stuff before the whole I would be caught dead in that thing, and I rarely find common ground with those type of people. I also don't care about warranty, I usually void it within the first week (or like my one of a kind 997S 24 hours, I completely took it apart a rebuilt it only has a 30% of it original parts). Yup I'm old and after almost 5 decade of rebuilding cars I am told I have forgotten what I have forgotten about them. That is probably true, but I never have forgotten what I truly enjoyed about each one, the steering in a 4C, the great gearbox in a S2000, Miata and Evora 400. The first drive in a F1 Ferrari. The bizarre clutch in a Carrara GT (only car I ever stalled), and 3 on three ford bronco (what I learned to drive on). They all were great experiences, and dnt count out something before you even have a chance to experience it. Sort of like sushi, lots of people say they don't like it, then they try it, yum.

I'm intrigued by the C8 as well. It may be a while before you can get one at a decent price if the specs are everything it looks like it may be. Truly a supercar bargain.

But, I figure buying the last of the front engine Corvettes can't be all bad. Especially the Z51 with dry sump and many other performance mods

@1Carnut you are one lucky fellow! I would be surprised if you didn't buy the C8, rather than the other way around. Good luck. You're a young man at heart, ready to take on a new version. The Wall Street Journal had an article today where old time owner's were proclaiming the C8 is not a Corvette. So familiar. Resistance to change is a common affliction (damn T4! damn water cooled!)

I think that is absolutely right all the way around. ^^^^^

I looked at the front engine C7 - for lots of reasons, one being after my new Cayman S was lost in the flood here I just didn't want to spend 911T style money with all the other things to do. And I like the looks of those C7. It really grew on me over the time.

But I was caught in No Mans Do Nothing Land. Yeah I'm Porsche first. But yeah I like the C7 and its a tremendous value. And then the C8 was waiting to burst on the scene.

I don't drive any of these cars very much. Also I needed a new SUV for Mrs TR and it is finally here today ( Cayenne) , and I wanted a new truck ( already got ) as that is my day to day vehicle. I have Missy TR up and ready for a drivers license so more car/truck. And finally add a sports car and be happy right? . Hmmmm do I really want 4 New Cars here in the corral? Uhh maybe not. Its sounds fun. But expensive. I can see it now, No baby we can't buy horse oats because of my new car. Or, no we aren't going on vacation ever gain because we have 4 news cars for 3 of us.

So Do Nothing sounded like a plan. For a little while anyway. Now the heat might start rising in the pan though. Ha!

Maybe it doesn't have to be that blunt but I can't participate in the pole until the following two answers (or equivalents) are added:
- Meh, I think I'll pass.*
- I wouldn't be caught dead in it.

*This would be my answer.

Some might disagree with me, but with low annual mileage I've found that a few years older is way better and way cheaper. Most of my miles are on my DD Explorer and my SO's X3, and 10k miles/year are split between all the other cars that cost a few thousand dollars per year to keep maintained.
