You can see the 3 height positions on the lever below, that is what will affect the throw. So shortening the throw will make the lever a bit shorter, but not by much.

Completed the shifter install today and will finish the cable install before the end of the month.

The install was super easy, but the instructions are terrible.

BUT, totally worth it. Everything is just so much more precise, and the shorter throw makes for much smoother and precise shifts.

Thanks guys!
Finally had a chance to do the install last week and fully tested out at Pacific Raceways on Friday the 26th on a lapping day. Amazing, AMAZING improvement in shifter feel and engagement. Best upgrade I've done to the car so far. As others have posted, the instructions do need a decent revision but I was able to reference other installs and make it all work. My brother who's an A&P decided to take the transmission end lock nuts a step further and safety wired them up as there is no secondary lock on them as is present on the factory ends with the clips. Pics below.

Great product - thanks guys!

So Numeric folks, after I posted just recently of the sub-optimal instructions that you said you were unaware of, pointed you to some of the earlier comments, and now a couple subsequent installs saying more of the same, any revisions/improvements pending?

Really appreciated this in-car review. Something I've been on the fence about and it was great to see someone's first impressions after the install. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.

Yes, we have started a complete revision in the instruction manuals. And working on adding a few more videos, especially in the areas that seem to have customers stuck at. As we replied in another forum,
"Hey guys! We appreciate the feedback, and are always looking to better the experience for our customers. We will begin to update and improve our install guides, because we really do want you guys to be doing the installs yourselves. We all know it grows that bond with your car when you do. Also, those tabs are fragile and we hear about one or two tabs breaking from customers often. Our tip, if it isn't going, don't pull harder lol."

That’s great news. Thanks for listening to the feedback, and for the update. I have heard a lot of good things about your shifter/cables and will keep an eye on this space for notification the improved directions are available.

Great info in this thread... thanks everyone for the detailed reviews and videos. I've ordered the shifter/cable bundle ... looking forward to installing on my 997.1.

As we progress through renewing our install guides, here is the first install video redone and broken down to every single detail needed for a shifter install on a 991/992/981/718. We tried our best to put more emphasis on common areas that customers were getting stuck at. We know the shifter and cables is the more involved one therefore that one is next on the list! Hope this helps all of our customers do the install themselves!

Just wanted to let you know that I ended up ordering the shifter/cable bundle for my 997, after sitting in the 991 and talking to you guys at the Carlisle PA swap meet. Hopeful my 997 will feel as precise as the 991 you had on display.

You sat in my car! I offered it up to the Numeric guys as actually feeling the shifter in the car is mind blowing.
They should come up with some sort of small demo that is actually mounted so everyone can feel how much better it really is.

You won't regret this. If feels this good in all the cars.

I was hoping your new post was going to be a video of the cable install for the 987.... I bought the package with the shifter but I have been holding off on install believing the best reference was soon to come!

I just had mine installed 2 days ago (along with solid shifter cable ends - stock cables) and it is absolutely AMAZING! It really connects you to the car. Great product!
