Installed both the Numeric short shifter and cables on my 987 this past summer. Highly, highly recommend the upgrade to all as the shifter + cable combo replaces basically all the plastic between your hand and transmission with metal components and bearings.
Install required a medium level of skill but gave me the opportunity to add some sound deadening behind the seats and on the firewall while the carpets were out.
The end result is totally worth it - people are always surprised/impressed when I let them try it at car shows.
Shifter and cables installed
Adding dynamat to removable firewall
Dynamat behind the seats

Anyone have a picture of the final install? Any cutting or modifications to the console?
Thanks!
Thanks!

When you route the cables there is a small rubber grommet behind the ebrake that you reuse & that needs to be cut to fit on the new cables (5 min job). The rest is purely bolt on. Cables and shifter combo can be done in a day. I took the weekend as I went really slow taking off the console and organizing the parts as I took them off.
The hardest part of the install is connecting the cables to the transmission & tightening them down - do yourself a favor and get the cable wrench from Numeric ($20 i think) for better access to tighten them down.

If anyone is on the west side of LA and wants to check it out in my car - please DM me. I'll also be at Pelican C&C on the 25th for those attending.

Final install looks 100% stock - no cutting required at all as this bolts in as a direct replacement. (pic below from a recent visit to palm springs)
