I'd like to have these answers to help me decide on long vs less than long headers

It has been a while since we last heard from John at BGB. They updated their website a couple of weeks ago to add information on their Stage I, II and III, upgrades for the GT4. There was a small glitch and the Stage III upgrade showed the same information as the Stage II upgrade. John just fixed that. Now you can see what each stage costs, what's included, and what the resulting increases in HP and torque will be. http://www.teambgb.com/981-CAYMAN-GT...KITS-s/130.htm

^ I looked at Stage 1 and the pricing does nor make sense at $10,000. You figure the sport headers are $3000, the Plenum and throttles body $1350, Filters are $250, and tune should be around $1000-$1300. What am I missing??

The tune is 4K+ from the German tuner. 1.2 from cobb.

Stage III is only $17500 for a 4.0 build?
Can't be. Too cheap?

But the website says the tune included with stage 1 (for10k) is the Cobb tune -

exhaust muffler $2-3k Cargraphic **** aint cheap
Dyno tuning probably costs a little more than $1300
Labor for the rest to make it 10k total?

Sounds about right to me.

Ah, I was not paying attention - I was thinking of the original stage I. Labor is a big piece. It was about 15 hours for the Plenum/TB and headers on my car, which I think is on the high side.

The way I read the offerings, each price is cumulative (i.e. Stage II is just for the X51 parts, LSD, LWFW, clutch). If you want the full-boat, total cost is $47,300.

I don't think that's the case since DeMan, who I believe worked with BGB on the stroker kit, is charging $18,950 for the 4.0 conversion.

My question is if the full 3.99 stroker conversion is engine and tune only without headers, plenum, etc., i.e. excluding bolt-ons from Stage I and II.

Looking at DeMan's site, I may have answered my own question.

4.0L Engine Package

Complete and Dyno Tested it includes:
403HP and 340FT/Lb of TQ at the wheels!
4.0L Stroker kit
82mm Throttle Body
Headers
Mufflers if desired
In-house Custom Dyno Tuning
and more…

Again, I post this because I thought there was collaboration on the stroker kit between BGB and DeMan. If this runs afoul of the thread, please delete.

Perhaps they are collaborating on r&d but offering unique packages? I think during the DeMan visit they mentioned the crank and rods were custom but the pistons were stock while on the bgb site it mentions custom pistons. Bet they are sharing the custom crank at a minimum. So far the 4.0L offering has been a little vague. I'm interested but would want to know exactly what goes into the conversion as far as components, component weights compared to stock, and new compression ratio.
