Some newish video of testing. I'm not loving the EV noises, but I guess I'll adjust... eventually. Can't wait to see what the GT department is able to do with these in the coming years..
The only noise I hear is tires crunching salty roads. The only thing more nauseating will be if they pump fake exhaust noises externally and internally.
I had to have the Tub lining removed from the 'Frunk' of my Cayman GT4RS (due to mechanic leaving the remains of Mobil oil change bottle = 600mls of oil leaked everywhere!) . The picture attached has some interesting packaging on the floor of Frunk. The aluminium spacers hide a 25mm deep recess. Mechanic reports that the space was for a battery if the 718 was to go along the Hybrid path. Low centre of gravity and weight distribution. Porsche obviously was exploring all possibilities of full EV (as is coming) and mild Hybrid (992.2 911) and the possible Hybrid of the 718 Cayman/Boxster.

Interesting Picture..... A mild Hybrid 718 might have some decent sales in North America. But a full BEV 718 will probably be dead on arrival.
For Porsche, jumping straight into pure-play BEV technology for the Macan and to a lesser extent the 718 will be seen as one of the more perplexing business decisions of recent history. The Macan in particular makes no sense as a BEV and perfect sense as a hybrid. (Actually the time to electrify the 718 was when they first introduced it, rather than wasting resources on a new IC engine that was doomed the day it came out.)
Frankly, I will be shocked if Porsche and every other manufacturer doesn’t do the same. Plug-ins make a lot of sense. EVs are simply never going to take off.
