The charger always begins with 2 lights when you charge, same as mine. Those lights are not about how full the battery is but the charging status. If you want to check how full the battery is, you will need to install the Antigravity Lithium Battery Tracker.

now and since about a month I had the light come on again, with no noticeable changes in how the car starts or drive, with the voltage while car running in the 13.2 - 13.4 range. and now suddenly since a couple of days ago the voltage would not go below 14.7 while the car is running, what caused it to change?

I am not sure how to calculate the batteries health, is it too late to get a charger and charge it overnight? do you think that will help?
If your vehicle is from 2019, why will a software glitch appear after 4 years.?

I have a 2019 Cayenne S, with the original Lithium battery, and no problems so far.

The only issue I had was when I forgot a connected blutooth device while I was traveling for several weeks. I was able to use my battery boister, and then I charged it with my lithium battery charger.. no problems since then.

I wonder if it is moreithat the battery charge is week, and it needs a full recharge every so often..

Software glitches do not suddenly appear after 4 years..

Though, I have a friend that complains that his vehicle was just fine until he took it to the dealer, where soon after he had problems of different kinds..

Because of his experience, and other people similar ones, I have been reluctant to take it to my dealer, I know by first hand some dealers are real crooks, but that's a different story..

Currently, I do my oil and filter changes, and still waiting for my brakes to get worn-out, at 80,000 miles already.!!

Hmmmm okay that's good to know. On my GT350 with the CTEK it goes straight to the higher numbers if the battery is at a good charge level. I guess I was expecting the same thing with the LiPO4 charger. Thanks.

That’s how mine behaves. Another thing to consider: I don’t think daily driving keeps the battery fully charged. I suspect Porsche programs the alternator to keep the battery less than 100% to prolong LFP battery life.

This is different from lead-acid batteries, which are charged to 100% for best battery life and may explain why @matthewr87 observes different behavior on his GT350 battery charger.

From this article titled, “Best charging behavior for LFP batteries”:
https://pushevs.com/2022/04/21/best-...lfp-batteries/

“When you charge a battery you’re increasing its voltage and at higher voltages the liquid electrolyte starts slowly corroding the current collectors inside the battery cells. Therefore, it’s obvious that keeping the batteries at lower SoC (State of Charge) is better for their cycle life.

More here from Auto Evolution:
https://www.autoevolution.com/news/t...00-187075.html

When you connect the CTEK, it will fully charge the battery. My battery charged to 13.48 volts after a charge. When I started my Cayenne , I noticed the voltage was lower than normal, as if the alternator was allowing the battery to discharge down to the normally lower state-of-charge programmed by Porsche. The next day, my battery was down to its normal 13.1 volts.

Ah that's interesting. I guess it makes sense. Need to start thinking of this thing more like a phone than a car hahaha

Interesting development to this saga. I took the car in to the dealership to have a look at the battery. They found some kind of GPS tracking LoJack device attached to one of the battery terminals. No idea where it came from. I certainly didn't install it and I bought the car CPO back in January. Maybe the previous owner did it or the selling dealership did it and then they didn't remove it during the CPO process. The real twist is that they told me if they find that this device is draining my battery then it won't be covered under warranty and I'm SOL. How about that huh?

Interesting and unusual to find the tracking device. Unsurprising that the dealer is preemptively messaging no warranty support.

I have since confirmed that the original selling dealership installs these BS gps trackers on every car they sell and then try to charge customers the $1295 LoJack fee as an add on. The tracker is installed no matter if the customer pays for the add on or not. So I guess I will be sending them the bill for the battery.

What does the Lo Jack device look like? I will check my battery to see if such an item is installed.

Just a small black box. See if you have any wires coming out of the terminal under the hood and follow them. Mine was velcro'd to the inside of the fender. That is a still from the video the tech sent me. He disconnected it from the terminal but left the other wiring. Apparently they also spliced it into the wiring harness.....

That is unreal. Particularly the part about splicing into wiring harness of a new car.

What's also unreal is that they charge $1295.00 for a device you can buy on eBay for $11.95. Even for the absurd pricing of Porsche dealer service that's particularly disgraceful. .
