2019 Cayenne Battery
#166
My 9Y0 is a 2019 put into svc 4/19. Battery issue happened in may with approx 57K on odometer. Replaced battery under emission system warranty b/c stop start feature is part of emission reduction system. I believe that warranty is 7 years/100k.

Our Cayenne battery light is on, took it to dealer. Dealer says battery is not responding to system queries (I am paraphrasing) and the battery needs to be replaced. Presented with a $3000 estimate (I think $2600 for parts) and perhaps a six week wait or more, I am in a bit of shock. The battery seems to be working okay, no fluctuations or anything, but every time we start we get a loud warning chime. Does it make sense that it needs to be replaced? Is getting a third party battery an option to consider? Should I start trickle charging it? (I don't think there is any evidence that it is not charging). Any thoughts appreciated.

I have the same issue and have been driving the car over a month with no issue. Not sure if I should replace the battery or not. Any suggestion for anyone on if i should replace or not as the battery is charging and car turning on fine. Did you replace it yet?

My battery light never came on but I got many other warnings. Could be related???? Dealer diagnosis is attached and part is on order. Still driving it with no issues.

I picked up my '19 Cayenne yesterday from dealer and paid $3,200 for new lithium battery.
I obviously complained and was told to contact Porsche NA which I did. Now i'm waiting for their decision. I had the yellow battery warning light appear last year and the issue was fixed with a software update. This time they tell me it's the battery......seems it's not communicating properly with ECU. Unfortunately now i'm out of warranty.
I don't see the battery listed anywhere under the emissions warranty so that wont help me either.
Hopefully Porsche NA steps up and does the right thing!

AGM!
.2 base at my dealer has a Varta AGM. Good news that the dumb and expensive LiFePO4 battery could be a thing of the past.

Just woke up to a completely dead Cayenne. 2022 GTS CPO which we bought in Jan. Has the POS lithium battery. I'm guessing I can't use my standard Stanley battery charging box in this case? Thanks.

Based on my experience with dealerships, they are more likely to look into it immediately and give you loaner if you tow the vehicle to the dealership for warranty claims.

Okay thanks. I submitted a roadside assistance claim. I assume they will try to boost or charge it. But given how it just suddenly died with no warning I think the battery may be toast. Going to be interesting trying to tow it out of my garage.

Yeah that's what I figured. I'll wait and see whether roadside assistance can revive it. What a PITA. We drive it every day and have 5100 miles in 6 months without any extended breaks in between. Should be enough to keep the damn thing charged.
