Looks like they got #'s at least for VW 2.0L cars so owners know what to expect.

I am joining this late I know, but am considering buying a used pepper diesel. I live in Cali, but would probably be registering the car in NV. From reading the last few pages here, it sounds like under no circumstances should I consider buying a used pepper diesel as this emissions mess has not played itself out yet..and a car purchased now might not be able to get registered, which would clearly be a show stopper. Any opinions would be appreciated. If I was already an owner it would be one thing, but it might be too early to jump into the pool....Thanks!

all speculation. they are not going to disallow registration. fwiw, buddy of mine got one (50k miles? 2013) for 30s. Nice spec. And with a 6yr/100k warranty CPO to boot.
This is a GREAT car for that $.

Thanks. I am trying to get the spec from the owner, that price data point is good to know. The one I'm looking at looks fantastic, blue metallic with umber interior. 2013, about 30k miles, but he's asking $46k. I have no idea what it's worth....

Remember this will have a CPO Warranty 6 years from In Service Date (which is likely sometime in 2012) and $100,000 miles. I would offer $40,000 and think I got a great deal. The only unknown is the future fix if any. But these are great SUV vehicles. Of course I own two!!

i'm under no illusion that the depreciation curve due to this FK UP has accelerated the "value" of this car.
But that's why i keep, to drive.
your seller probably needs to realize same.
offer 38 cash and see where he goes w/ it. worst is they say no.
But I think sell is a hard one in this market.
They are great trucks.

Thanks for the advice. Agree that this probably isn't the greatest market for these regardless of the outcome of the mess...with gas prices so low anyway. What do you mean that the car will be CPO? Is that part of the deal, porsche is certifying all of the diesels regardless? I need to see the spec sheet, all I know is it has 21's and pano roof and is a gorgeous color combo.
Question for you pepper diesel owners--how is the performance and handling? I know it's not as quick as an 's', but is it acceptable, and is handling ok with the added mass of the diesel?
Thanks.

At 80 you feel like you are going 40. Even fully loaded, handling is razor sharp and the ride is very comfortable. By far, it is my best long distance machine, with 600 mile days an easy task. We have the 14 way cooled seats, they are great. Fuel mileage and range are exceptional, nothing like it anywhere. Strong, safe, confidence inspiring machine to drive. Only down side is the somewhat limited cargo capacity. Just pack efficiently.

I bought my '14 CD Platinum Edition with 28k on the clock for 43k. I Am not concerned with resale value, I feel I got a great deal ($71k sticker) on a great car and won't be looking back.

CPO is used incorrectly here. POA is extending the warranty for two more years or 100,000 miles. By now most owners on record should have received both a letter and email (I did). In doubt check the VIN.

Well, CPO for me means also dealer inspection and repairing of whatever is not up to POA standards. I think that was what cohenfive asked since he is thinking of buying from a private owner. It would be great if POA also inspects my CD and replaces worn out items.

There should be no problem registering the car right now, but the question arises after Porsche engineers and negotiates a "fix" with CARB and the EPA. You may have trouble in the future getting registered in the more activist states (CA, NY, +?) if you can't provide proof that the fix has been applied.
The concern is that - if the fix decreases performance, drivability or fuel economy, and you decide not to undergo the change, then you'd have to go underground.
Enforcement may differ, too. Here in Colorado, Denver Metro is a "non-attainment area," requiring e-tests, but the rest of the State is not. So Denver might insist on the Fix to re-register, while the rest of the State may not.
It will likely take a year for all this to sift out, but our hope is that the fix for our Cayenne Diesels is minor and will not adversely affect performance.
