Note former cars, don't disagree at all. Just saying if there is begging to be done then go all in. GT3 can always be had if you are willing to wait a bit and be selective. Will be interesting to see what happens to the R now that GT3 has manual. BTW building a resto mod AWD 4.0 RSR out of 90 C4 so I really agree.

Sorry for the off topic.

Just uploaded my letter last night. We shall see. I have to say that the bolder paragraph in the release statement could be the single most awesome piece of lawyer speak I have ever read. It's like someone got out a law dictionary and looked up the term release and then copied all the synonyms.

On a side note, my wife thought it sucked to sign the release, but both of us agree we have no appetite to try to sue them separately. She just wants to keep her car. Both of us are praying that the fix doesn't neuter the crap out of it.

Am I correct in thinking there hasn't been any reliable information on exactly what the fix consists of? I've read a number of different speculations. But nothing more. Didn't VW have a deadline late last month to submit detailed information?? My apologies is this has already been discussed.

Latest (July) issue of Car & Driver has an article on TDI 2.0 Gen 3 and compares performance before and after fix. 0-60 time same. 1/4 mile time same. "We found no notable performance differences between the car with its original dirty software and the same car after the fix."

Today I got the email directing me to make the inspection appointment. This was 3 days since uploading my notarized paperwork. No inspection appointments available until July.

I received the inspection email within 24 hours of uploading the release. Unfortunately, do to scheduling, mine and Porsche, I can't get in to my dealer in Spokane until July 24. I could of gone in on July 10 but will be at the Parade with my 928GTS. I wish I had a car trailer and could do both the week of the 10th. The claim site has been very quick in my opinion.

Got my confirmation emails tonight. Scheduled both appointments for the earliest available day, July 10th. Once I booked the first 30 min appointment, when I switched vehicles, the time slot was no longer available at my dealership (Porsche Southpoint). I set ours up for back to back times.

Yep, there's obviously a lot of legal speak in there.

Paragraphs 5 and 6 give me pause, though I'm not a lawyer.

5 says that after I sign it, even if the settlement is voided completely, I'm still bound by the release. I suppose that the paragraph that says if I withdraw and give the money back covers that, though.

And 6 says that I waive any right to receive or enforce benefits from the agreement now or in the future. That seems to directly contradict the original paragraph. Just a follow on that says if you take the money, you're in for good? What happens if they decline your claim but you've signed this thing? Now you've said you can't enforce any benefits from the settlement. Doesn't seem to make sense to me, though I suspect it's pretty boilerplate and VW isn't trying to get out of paying by doublespeak.

You are correct. Presumably VW has submitted the fix. But the deadline was submission only. The deadline for the fix to be approved is November, IIRC. So we wait. We certainly won't know more about the fix until it has been approved.

I'm quite worried about this.

I've scheduled my dealership visit for the first 50% of the $$$ 07/19 at 5pm.

The Touareg goes back for all the dinero, 07/11/2017.

Wife is going to schedule her 1/2 of the $$$ sometime today.

Does anyone know, if we take this repair money and the repair is NOT approved, does that preclude any potential buyback offer?
